Thanks for the ping BK. We had one just over the mountain yesterday, could smell and see smoke in the afternoon. It was near Hemet.

there is a fire in Orange County too.....and the Griffith Park Arsonist tried to light the park on fire again...but they got a handle on it pretty quick.

This is another one that seemed like it might have quite a story involved...started out with multiple grass/brush fire alerts...turned into this, with a male supposedly putting it out (although I wonder if perhaps he was starting it?) and now a sig alert for police activity in the area?

Similarly, I believe it was yesterday, but may have been Saturday, there was a brush fire started by a guy pouring gas outside the car window on the shoulder and starting fires (reported by another motorist)...
Ugh...LONG fire season to go... :-(
Karl, can you link that other website you sometimes post updates from about the fires? I know you have the scanners that you get updates on, but it seems like you oftentimes have another website source that is more detailed than the CHP one, especially since so many things don't even stay on the logs or they stray outside CHP area and so then we can't get much in the way of details.

Breaking news on the Vineland Exit ... they found a dead body when they put that fire out. Nothing more at this time.

Yeah, according to the top of the 5 o'clock news (KNBC & KCBS). It's unknown if the person died prior to the fire, or in it, but if there are witness reports that someone was trying to put it out, maybe that explains it.
The ramp will be closed all evening. Glad I don't have to drive through there.
