I am not a fan of newer movies mainly because they either suck rocks or they hold no appeal for me. The last movie I paid to see in a theater was Terminator 2: Judgement Day and I saw it twice. Thankfully someone out there has come up with an idea so refreshing I would actually pay double to see it.
This trailer is even more incredible when you consider that absolutely no studio money was used to make it. Director John Fiorella and cinematographer Gabriel Sabloff made it on weekends and wherever they could find even taking over a library which an actual production company had rented but were late in using.
The cinematography, direction, plot, and action are beyond belief. And the list of comic book characters that make an appearance is longer than my arm. If any of the Batman series had been made with this much care and sense of detail they would have grossed 2 or even 3 times what they did.
The only problem I have with it is that the trailer is so damned good and after you watch the 5 minute production you go "Yeah! That's killer. Can't wait for..." Then reality hits you square in the face.
Although Fiorella is shopping the idea around, or something similar, there is no screenplay or plans to make the film.
Fiorella and Sabloff would love to see their "Grayson" concept become a feature some day, but they recognize the inherent difficulties in selling the project. For one thing, the epic plot involves an unwieldy number of individually licensed characters, each of which constitutes its own corporate entity.
Let us all hope and pray that Hollywood gets its head out of its collective butt and recognizes what these guys have done with the budget of a miser, special effects from the stone age and good old fashioned ingenuity. I love the library tale.
I think they have a box office monster and they deserve a standing ovation. Encore! Encore!

They are making a new Batman movie right now, called Batman Begins. I think it will easily be much better than any of the others. They have a good director, a solid story, and a perfect cast; especially with Christian Bale as Batman -- finally a Bruce Wayne who can pass the 'can I imagine him kicking my ass' test? Plus he's a good actor.
If it hadn't-a been for Grayson I'd-a been in Tennessee.
Did you see the movie Christian Bale was in called "Equilibrium" ? Quite an amazing movie.
Thanks Rebel_ace. :-)
Yeah, "Equilibrium" is "The Matrix" without the hype. First time I've ever seen a guy's face get sliced off, though, eww.
Yes, I watched it after learning Bale got the Batman role. He's great in it, though I thought he'd be great for Batman after I saw him in "American Psycho" of all things.
I like what I found from this thread. Because I like it when I see someone who takes very little money and with determination, smarts, imagination and good old American "can do" create something most people say can't be created.
This is a very cool story and I wish the people involved success with their future projects. I "suggest" to you that before you make a post back like you did regarding that the poster take this information elsewhere that you take a look at what was being posted and be sure you understand what you are responding to. Something you obviously did not do.
Batman / Bruce Wayne | Very wealthy, unmarried, but lives a reclusive, yet opulent lifestyle with his young male "ward". Yeah, Kerry supporter written all over. Probably listens to a lot of Michael Jackson... |
Robin / Dick Grayson | See above. |
Superman / Clark Kent | Illegal Alien, Works as a Journalist, believes that wearing thick, horned rimmed glasses is the perfect disguise which no one can discern. Yeah, Kerry supporter written all over. |
Wonder Woman / Princess Diana | Militant Amazon Feminist. Also runs "Transformation Island" where criminals are "rehabilitated" then returned to "society" as "productive members". Card carrying Gloria Steinem Dem. |
Green Lantern / Various | Wields unimaginable power that was just handed to him by a dying alien. Doesn't understand how the power works, and often produces wildly un-intended consequences of applying his power. Yep, Democrat written all over. |
Marvel Comic Characters (Bush Supporters):
Iron Man / Tony Stark | Self made millionaire and CEO of Stark Industries. Principle source of income, Gov't Military Hardware Contracts for Weapons Systems. Oh, Yeah, go Bush! |
The Thing / Ben Grimm | Former military test pilot. Former Astronaut. Cigar Smokin' butt kickin' individualistic loner that actually says to President Carter in a comic: "Just because I didn't vote for you doesn't mean I'm not gonna save world when ya ask." Definitely in Bush's corner. |
Spider-Man / Peter Parker | Upon acquiring super powers, his first thought is to cash in on a capitalistic, free market exploitation of his new abilities. Dupes his idiot liberal editor boss into buying pictures of HIMSELF as news. Enterprising Free Market Entrepreneur for Bush. |
The Hulk / Bruce Banner | Bruce Banner is an NUCLEAR WEAPONS DESIGNER for the military. Hulk Smashes! but Bruce Votes! |
Captain America / Steve Rogers | American Super Soldier and Nazi Butt Kicker. Certainly not aligned with the military weakening positions of Sen. Kerry. Advantage: Bush |
Now, now, this is just some harmless fun! So please don't get all huffy and flaming, posting that Stan Lee is a pinko lefty and the like. This was just for a laugh!
LOL!
"And which way do you think I vote, tenderfoot?"
LOL! Jeez...
You assumed incorrectly Brian but I have now.
Good job of production, direction and pacing. Even the plot, no matter how improbable, was done in such a manner that it could happen. Batman is toast but...
A fun way to spend 8 minutes (well 15 it if you count downloading it (160mBs). Thanks for the heads up.
God bless our troops wherever they may be.
I downladed the hi res version and all I can say is WOW! An aging Superman is a GREAT touch! Man, I hope they get the bucks to make the film. Perhaps they can sell shares or something like they do for a new company and you can invest a few buchs or as much as you like. Your cut is a portion of the profits.
Its funny. And it brings to mind why the whole concept of a Robin character is such a bad idea. It is only good for 'Batman is gay jokes.'
I'll be upset if he shows up in any way in the new films.
Check out his other fantasy trailer
