Gun-Toting Protesters Shake Up Falls Church
Washington Post ^ | October 2, 2004 | David Cho

Posted on 10/02/2004 12:07:06 PM PDT by Mulder

It seemed simple enough. Falls Church officials recently drafted a policy that would require city workers to call 911 immediately if anyone stepped onto city property carrying a gun. Police who responded would check to see if the gun was properly licensed and report their findings to city officials.

............snip..................

About 30 people, pistols strapped to their hips, strode into the council's meeting this week protesting the policy and warning that it violates their constitutional right to bear arms -- and possibly state laws, as well.

I've only seen 'shrub' used by members of DemUn.

So are you ready to talk about the "pro-gun" policies of some illustrious GOP Senators such as McCain, Warner, and Chafee?

McCain and Chaffee are RINO's. Don't know much about Warner.

Rumors of the demise of conservative Democrats have been greatly exaggerated.

I'll try to be gracious in accepting the benefit of the doubt, and endeavor to conduct myself in a manner above reproach.

Thank you.

You ought to change your screen-name to Timex.

Well, Zell Miller has the BALLS, the MALE PLUMBING, to say he's a DemocRAT, that he's not leaving the RAT Party, but that HE IS VOTING FOR BUSH!

I haven't seen that yet from this "I don't like labels, I'm RKBA Democrat and Shrub....", which tells me we're probably dealing with a seminar DemocRAT single issue wedge divider who conveniently shows up a month before election with the Communist RAT candidate losing...

I'm a Democrat. So I'm exposed to the slang and jargon much more frequently. The term in question is in fairly common use in Democratic circles, much the same as "Demoncrat" is in common use in conservative circles.

I've been called on the carpet for using the term on FR. I agree; I should remember where I'm at and I apologize for having used the term. I'll will endeavor to keep to a higher standard in the future.

Tempting. Takes a licking and keeps on ticking. But then if I change it, I have to start from scratch and answer the inevitable questions about why I changed it:

Am I ashamed of what I am? Can't I take the heat?

So I think I'll stay with my current screen name. But thanks for the suggestion.

I think that if I were trying to act as a provocateur I would have picked a more subtle screen name than "RKBA Democrat."

As for timing, my motives would be questioned if I joined FR now, they would be questioned if I joined FR later. I chose yesterday. It was as good a time as any.

It's kind of hard to explain to folks, but open carrying while wearing a Howard Dean T-shirt is just one of those moments that have to be lived.

Sounds like you just need attention. Try tattoos and colored spiky hair.

Thanks for the suggestion. But I don't much like needles and the hair is thinning. I'd be spiking a few wisps.

"The group was largely organized by Philip Van Cleave, president of the Virginia Citizens Defense League, a gun owners group, who drove up from his home near Richmond."

I wish his name had been Lee Van Cleet.

Now THAT would have shaken up the council!

check to see if the gun was properly licensed and report their findings to city officials.

Is Falls Church nuts? Fairfax County has been slapped down on this kind of thing so many times it's not funny, and the law against local preemption was (once again) clearly articulated in the round of new gun laws a couple months ago.

But the biggest question is, what is a "properly licensed" gun? Virginia doesn't license guns, and only requires a permit for concealed carry (which you don;t need for open carry).

Sure thing!
Let's start by talking about the fact that none of THOSE losers is a GOP candidate for President!

The Dimocratic Party, OTOH, is running John Kerry, and it's sorta hard to tell whether he's campaigning for President of the United States, or President of France.

Being from Missouri, I understand that there can be such a "thing" as a pro-gun Democrat..

If it hadn't been for such people in our state, Concealed Carry would never have passed the legislature..

I welcome you on behalf of all those that support and defend the 2nd amendment..

We can discuss those other political issues at our leisure... LOL...

"Let's start by talking about the fact that none of THOSE losers is a GOP candidate for President!"

(as the pro-gun Democrat gets on his knees and thanks the Good Lord for small favors).

Sen. Kerry is anti-gun. No point in disagreeing with the truth.
