Gun-Toting Protesters Shake Up Falls Church
Washington Post ^ | October 2, 2004 | David Cho

Posted on 10/02/2004 12:07:06 PM PDT by Mulder

It seemed simple enough. Falls Church officials recently drafted a policy that would require city workers to call 911 immediately if anyone stepped onto city property carrying a gun. Police who responded would check to see if the gun was properly licensed and report their findings to city officials.

............snip..................

About 30 people, pistols strapped to their hips, strode into the council's meeting this week protesting the policy and warning that it violates their constitutional right to bear arms -- and possibly state laws, as well.

Are you a sKerry Troll parading as a Constitutionist DemocRAT, registering at Conservative Free Republic this same day - with an oxymoronical moniker?

I don't think either are particularly pro-gun. Shrub has the virtue of being able to do nothing on the so-called AWB, where his opponent is actively trying to wax hot and cold on RKBA issues.

Gosh. Who do I prefer? The guy who stands around anddoesn't actively suport RKBA or the guy that claims to be pro-gun today but has been 100% anti-gun in the past?

Not a great menu choice in my book.

In my view, it's dumb for the RKBA folks to limit their efforts to only one party.

I agree, and on state levels and local levels, party isn't completely an indicator. In Michigan, we would not have gotten CPLS passed without 1/3 to 1/4 of the dems backing it(Eileen DeHart and Chris Dingell most notably). 1/3 to 1/4 of the GOP opposed it, Joe Schwarz most actively. The problem is the dem leadership in the national level and their top funders. They are hard core antis like George Soros, the university crowd, the trial lawyers lobby, public health lobbies, and Hollywood. Beign anti-2a to them is as important as being pro-choice.

So are you ready to talk about the "pro-gun" policies of some illustrious GOP Senators such as McCain, Warner, and Chafee?

I'm a Republican who has voted against anti-rights Republicans (one at a small level in the last election) in the past and would again. I also would not vote for Joe Schwarz whose running in the 7th district if I lived in that district.

I will give you credit for admitting that John Kerry is an anti. That's more than his campaign has been doing which is a mirror image of Andrew McKelvey's AGS's wolf in sheep's clothing scheme which insults my intelligence and PO's me more than someone like Major Owens or John Conyers who is out in the open about their gun views.

Any anyone that votes to ban the .30-30, whether it be John Kerry or Lincoln Chafee doesn't deserve to be elected dogcatcher.

I didn't support Kerry and think he was a crummy choice amongst the choices available. None of which were outstanding. Zell wasn't running.

As to the troll question. I've noticed that anyone who opposes 1% of the prevailing orthodoxy on this or similar websites is instantly branded a troll. So...whatever makes you happy.

In response to this:

Bush isn't perfect - I'd grade him a C on guns. But, that's at least better than Hanoi John vote to ban all centerfire ammo (S Amdt 2619).

Bush at least told the UN to pound sand with their small arms treaty, supports banning gun lawsuits which would bankrupt the industry, had the official position be that the 2nd Amendment protects the individual RKBA, and signed concealed carry in Texas.

So, since I assume you're coming to the table to eat (vote), which of the two serious items on the menu would you suggest should be CiC for the next 4 years? - assuming RKBA is a total loss both ways (which it isn't, you revealed a lot right there)?

What's your flavor, Bush or sKerry? Or are you just not gonna eat this year (stay home, here to depress Bush's voting base)?? And undecided isn't on the menu...

My response: Nothing to argue with there. But there are folks at the lower levels in the Dem party who do not agree with the grabbers.

"I'm a Republican who has voted against anti-rights Republicans (one at a small level in the last election) in the past and would again. I also would not vote for Joe Schwarz whose running in the 7th district if I lived in that district."

My response: Good. The party labels usually don't mean much. Especially in the south. Lining up to drink the koolaid, regardless of who is dispensing it, is usually a dumb idea.

"Any anyone that votes to ban the .30-30, whether it be John Kerry or Lincoln Chafee doesn't deserve to be elected dogcatcher."

My response: dogcatchers get a bad rap. We shouldn't malign their otherwise good reputations by associating them with gun confiscators.

"It was unnerving," said Vice Mayor Martha Meserve. She added: "Our staff is supposed to be on alert to look for suspicious activity, to look for terrorists, and now they're being told that if they question someone carrying a weapon, they are harassing people. You can't have it both ways."

One would think that these dense paranoid people would want as many law abiding gun owners around as possible b/c it may save their (or someone else's life) someday.

So then why did you choose one for your screen name, Democrat? (sniff-sniff)

Nattering Newbies of Negativism. I like that. Has an Agnew-esque touch.

Much as being RKBA Democrat seems a contradiction in terms, we do exist. Primarily in the south. I like the screen name KFC Chicken. Someone should grab it.

A bump for Virginia Citizen's Defense League.....

I'll second that. VCDL has been extremely effective in passing pro-RKBA legislation, despite a RAT governor.

Well, welcome to FR. I do find the concept of a RKBA (not just a hunter or sport shooter) Democrat a bit of double think in that it seems to be two mutually contradictory concepts.

I'll cut you slack if you're trying to get your party back from the Kennedys, Schumers, Clintons, Feinsteins, and Pelosis.

Yo Apes, let's give the n00b a chance to turn away from the darkside. So far he's better than murraymom who hung out on FR for years.

Neither Rat nor RINO are very good table fare, in my view. If this was a restaurant, I'd be talking with the manager by now.

I intend to go to the table. I'm one of the 3 folks left in the US who are undecided. FYI, we get together on Saturday nights and practice our coin-flipping techniques.
