Braves Still Alive
Atlanta Braves Official Site ^ | 10-10-2004 | SALChamps03

Posted on 10/10/2004 3:11:18 PM PDT by SALChamps03

The Atlanta Braves held off the Astros in Game 4 of the NLDS by a score of 6-5. The big plays were a three run homer by Adam Laroche, an inning-ending 4-1 put out by Marcus Giles and John Smoltz, A go-ahead RBI single by J.D. Drew, and a game-ending 6-3 double play started by Rafael Furcal, who delayed his 21-day sentence for DUI by another day. Hopefully, this Game 5 will end better than last year's loss to the Cubs, after which I had to endure an eight-block walk back to my van while listening to Cubs fans scream and shout through the streets of Atlanta. Go Braves!

I am excited about the Braves win today, so I thought I would post this. In the spirit of good sportsmanship, good luck to all Houston area Freepers in tomorrow's game.

I'll be at the game tomorrow as well rooting for the home team. The Astros, like the Twins, had their chance to put the opposition away and blew it. Braves will win tomorrow with Smoltz closing it out. Can't wait!

Who cares?
This is a sport that runs a "World Series" that includes 2 countries (and one of those is an also-ran)

Rain tomorrow. Oswalt pitches with normal rest tuesday. That would be nice. Of course Oswalt series ERA is 1.42.

Jared Wright's is 12.47.

Are you suggesting we need some sort of global test?

The Astros haven't won a playoff series in 42 years as a Major League baseball team. They blew a golden opportunity today. The fat lady hasn't sang yet but she may be warming up. The Astros are cursed much like the Cubs and Red Sox. I can't stand the Braves btw. Go Oswalt!

He is still associated with the team. Bushes don't own the Astros, but they are at many of the games.

Point taken. I don't always have the luxury of time-to search through every thread. I suspect the world will keep on turning, even with two threads about the series.

I completely despise Ted Turner's politics, but he was a great team owner here in Atlanta. I hate that we are owned by AOL-Time Warner. Also, if Jane Fonda had been executed for treason like she should have been, then she would never have been around to convince Ted to merge Turner Broadcasting with Time Warner. I have as much respect for her as I do for a stool sample.

Check attendance and TV coverage. Millions care. What is your favorite sport? Women's field hockey? Or is it soccer?
