The five cities looking to host the 2012 Summer Games submitted bids to the International Olympic Committee (news - web sites) on Monday, entering the final stage of a long process in hopes of landing one of the biggest prizes in sports.

British bookmaker Ladbrokes on Monday installed Paris as the 1-2 favorite to host its third Olympics after holding the games in 1900 and 1924. London, the 1908 and 1948 host, was at 3-1, with Madrid at 4-1, New York at 14-1 and Moscow, the 1980 host, at 33-1.
Paris has much of the infrastructure in place after hosting soccer's World Cup in 1998.

Just damn.
If you want on the list, FReepmail me. This IS a high-volume PING list...
haha
Chiracy must be sucking on someone's finger.
Good - better there than here in NYC.
You mean people actually bet on which city will get the games? Wouldn't that be like betting on which golf course gets to host the US Open in 2010? Seems odd.
Why any city wants the Olympics is beyond me.
That was rather my point.
"A good reason not to go". It's a sure bet that if they do there is no way in Hell I will go!
Munich Part Deux.
Now that Olympics have professional athletes, it is a non-event.
Paris over London good God why?
She is very experienced in broad jumping. : )
According to the bid committee, Paris already has 60 percent of all the sites required to stage the modern Games. And some of Paris' better know landmarks will be adapted, temporarily, to accommodate events."Jumping in front of Les Invalides, fencing in Le Grand Palais. The Eiffel Tower, you will have the beach volley. You will have the marathon going from one monument to another monument. You will have people cycling on the Champs-Elysees around the Etoile," says Bebear.
...and very little deodorant, even.

. . . and the two man luge. (is there such a thing as a four man luge?)
But Paris Hilton isn't going to be very attractive by the year 2012. She has a distinctive 'look' right now, but a beauty she ain't.
The french will never get it done in time. It takes
two years to just to let the bribes and another two years
to get someone to do the work and another two years to get
someone else to pay and then 8 years to build it. They
don't have enough time.
Paris is priced at over $60 on Tradesports.com. Looks like a slam-dunk.
