The media is now attempting to crucify the Marines by constantly showing the picture of a marine shooting a wounded insurgent in a mosque the insurgents were using as refuge while shooting our guys:another Media feeding frenzy! The Pentagon is concerned about how that will play with the arab nations and probably the the girlie members of congress. Give me a break!
The media is reluctant to show pictures of the animals we're dealing with! The beheading of hostages, the dragging of bodies thru the street, the hanging of burned bodies from a bridge, and more recently the ececution of Margaret Hassan. No frenzy there! No outrage!
What are the rules of engagement when your life and the lives of your buddies is at risk?
In previous actions, dead bodies were rigged with explosives, wounded combatants shot at the marines coming to check them out, combatants waved a white flag then shot at the marines coming to take them prisoner.
This particular marine had been shot the previous day. Instead of getting his purple heart, he was back on the line, doing what he was supposed to do.
If it was my son , I'd tell him to shot first and ask questions later, and I'd insist that the media show the execution of Margaret Hassan. The hell with what the Arab world and the Congress thinks! Screw them. This is not ccops and robbers!
That's the gist of my letter to the Pentagon and the White House. What say you?
It was apparently acceptable when John Kerry did it.
The MSM conveniently omits that just 2 days before, this very same unit lost 2 soldiers because the terrorists had booby trapped the dead body of one of their own.
With you all the way!
Like I said:
If it moves, kill it; if it moans, kill
it again. Then do the journalists.
MV
They repeatedly use the word "insurgents" in place of terrorist or enemy combatant.
They knew full well that the soldier in question had lost a buddy to a booby trap the day before and himself was shot in the face by an enemy pretending to be injured. But they excluded that information.
When all is said and done the news accounts of this incident should be thoroughly dissected and they should be held accountable for lying by om-mission. The facts they didn't report were facts they didn't want us to know.
IMHO: If our FCC had any moral and ethical backbone at all they would impose a penalty on media propagandists like NBC forcing them to air disclaimers before broadcasts saying that they have been known to fabricate reports and editorialize for the sake of sensationalism and should not be taken as a serious journalistic vendor
...."This program is not factual. It is news based entertainment and is the opinion of this network only."
For all you O'Reilly haters, you should know that O'Reilly defended this marine in last nites' show.
It should be noted that Kevin Sites (the embedded cameraman) is notoriously Left-wing and anti-war. I'm sure he was just itching to insert his bias into the whole thing.
Brokaw belongs in Gitmo as a prisoner.
Yep...that sure makes up for O'Reilly making noises about voting for Kerry.
Its a freaking war. Do they think this is the Rodney King case or something?
They share the SAME goals. Destruction of America.
How 'bout moving "do the journalists" to the front?
The terrorists created the conditions for this kind of mistake by playing possum and trying to kill U.S. fighters. It is a violation of the law of land warfare to feign surrender or noncombatant status. An enemy who violates these principles is morally and legally responsible for the consequences, including accidental killing of noncombatants and wounded.
I've been watching the MSM on this for two days now, and it seems on the surface that the hubbub is dying out. On NBC Evening News last night they covered the story, and did mention the Marine that was killed by a booby-trapped corpse the previous day. In fact the report seemed pretty objective. On Fox & Friends this morning they played the video, but their stance was very pro-Marine. And all morning I'm listening to an ABC Radio affiliate, and their top-of-the-hour newscasts haven't even mentioned the incident, more concerned with the Top 500 Songs of All Time and SearsKMart. Maybe the MSM heard from the "Folks" yesterday, and toned it down to preserve their bottom line.
The media is attempting to manufacture Vietnam II
