Registration and User Agreement
Purpose: The Free Republic forum is intended for Conservative users who wish to have a serious discussion about political events, conservative principles and the elimination of government corruption and abuse. This is a news and information site not a chat room. Please stay on topic. Free Republic is a supporter of free speech on the Internet but we believe that along with the privilege of free speech comes the responsibility to respect the rights of others.
I post the paragraph above from the Free Republics Registration and User Agreement because it was what inspired me to register as a member of this site. However rather than seeing any serious discussion I see useless name-calling coupled with an air of superiority.
Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility; for God resisteth the proud and giveth grace to the humble. 1 Peter 5:
Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering. Colossians 3:12
The way we are dealing with political difference in this country is a path to disaster. We really need CONSTRUCTIVE debate which will lead to positive results and unity.
The strategic principle of divide and rule (divide et impera) has a long and dishonorable history and if you search Divide and Conquer historical on the web you will see how this philosophy has been implemented through history. 2,500 years ago Sun Tzus Art of War advised:
So the rule for use of the military is that if you outnumber the opponent ten to one, then surround them; five to one, attack; two to one, divide.
The last data I saw shows the country to be fairly evenly divided, so whats the answer? Burn bridges, start a civil war? Or do we muster up what made us great, work out differences where possible and agree to disagree on other issues. But above all we should question in an effort to prohibit government corruption and abuse on both sides and if our leaders continue to seek to move the people of this country farther apart maybe we need to determine why rather than turning on each other.
We need to keep our eye on the ball
Tick, tick ,tick, tick.....
What we really need are more vanity posts...
okay...
Per your tag line..... I voted for him on some poll about the '08 election I just took the other day....
Ball lightning, that is...
Prepare to be Zotted.
We simply need to stop demonizing the other side. Both sides need to do that. Last I checked, it was the OTHER side, however, that had gone overboard. I have yet to see a serious post that raised an opposed view that wasn't replied to relatively constructively. The problem is that opposition posts tend to be the "nyah nyah" types...
I vote for Civil War II.
America is somewhat more conservative-leaning than liberal leaning.
The fact is, 70-80% of the electorate (which itself is only 55% of the population) only care about politics intermittently.
Maybe 10% of the country is truly ideologically committed.
The vast majority of Kerry voters and Bush voters are not willing to start a civil war over matters of principle.
so......your point is?
LMAO!
We are not worthy!
Uhhh, keep reading the Registration and User Agreement.
It also says that this is a website dedicated to promoting the Conservative cause and principles.
It is NOT a debating society for liberals.
Thank you for sharing that.
Then I'd really hate to see how useless and stupid your writing is when you're not "inspired"!
Getting kinda smokey in here...
If a Democrat, or liberal, comes to this site and actually WANTS a constructive debate, they can get one.
That being said, most of the posts by liberals, or Democrats, on this site have nothing to do with debate, constructive or otherwise, and everything to do with flame wars and abuse.
