"Progress? You mean the biggest increases in government since LBJ? That is regress rather than progress."

You have to start with the people. I see a big change coming over the American voter. He is becoming tired of big government and paying for everything that happens in the world. Republicans have become stronger since 1994 and continue to increase seats in congress etc. That's a good thing. It it were the other way around I would say the situation would be much more dire.

The lesser of two evils is still evil.

And people who buy into the scam, election after election after election, are stupid IMO if they want smaller government and more freedom returned to them.

I stand by my original statement.

The Republicans are not the lesser of two evils at least if the goal is slow the increase of domestic spending. Measured by the record, Clinton, for example, was a smaller big government guy than Bush in domestic policy. Watch what they do, not what they say!

While the United States tries to govern the world by spending more than any other nation or group of nations on the military, China and India, followed by the European Union, are becoming economic giants.

Actually, this moron should compare military spending relative to the respective nations' GNP. The Euroweenies spend next to nothing but are being strangled by their socialist policies and overwhelmed by Muslims. I suspect that the PRC is outspending us on military items relative to our respective GNPs, and the Indians (with their very unfriendly neighbors) are matching us.

You'd think an "ex-professor" would be capable of wringing out a few clear, coherent declarative sentences, wouldn't you...? :)

Agreed, but this assumes that Dubya is the lesser of two evils. At least if big government is the standard, I see no evidence for that.

He may be stupid; however, he can probably read. Specifically, he can read the posting instruction telling him not to change the title of the original article. Why can't you?

Hamilton was the "common man", born a bastard in the Bahamas in the poorest situation imaginable, he rose through hard work and enterprise to be a true success. Burr, on the other hand, was born into a landholders family. After killing Hamilton he fled to Canada, where he betrayed the nation that almost elected him President. Giving the British military information on where our troops were located and what the easiest course of invasion would be, Burr became our greatest traitor ever.

But don't let facts persuade you.

Here is the intellect of those who think voting for either party as now constituted will return our freedoms.

"Who knows? One would think that Clinton wanted more government than Bush but the facts proved otherwise. Bush has increased government in his four years (in domestic policy!) than Clinton did in his eight."

So what you're saying is....since Bush reacted the way he did after 9-11 instead of treating 9-11 as a police issue...and keep downsizing the military and cutting other spending not attributing to domestic policy...Bush's legacy would have him on the same plane as Clinton?? I think that is what you're saying.....please give me some examples of Bush's increase in domestic policies that were not directly attributable to 9-11...

All the founding fathers were concerned about the mob mentality of the common man.

No kidding, I always thought that Thomas Jefferson was more Jeffersonian than that.

No question. It wasn't the only concideration however.

But the truth is, we are going the wrong way. And you can't get to more freedom by growing government.

The foundiong fathers never intended universal suffrage. Originally it was restricted to free white male property owners.

The property/income restriction should still be around. No Representation without Taxation is just as important as the reverse.

That's what I was thinking as I read this screed. I wonder if the good professor (ret.) would agree that those that earn their living off the state should not be allowed to vote themselves monies from the state?

I'm guessing you weren't a history major.

Burr didn't flee to Canada after killing Hamilton; he remained a part of the Jefferson administration for three years afterwards. The treason charges arose with regard to a possible war with Spain: however, Burr was acquitted of all charges. Burr traveled to England in 1808, but was banished. He was later captured and imprisoned by the British for the duration of the War of 1812. He returned to America, where he died in 1836.

Sorry, but that's the way it was.

Well...if you voted for anyone other than Kerry or Bush then your little picture of Mr. Homer should reference you as you tried to reference it to me....'tis why it is amusing...'cause according to you...anyone whom voted in this election is a "Homer".....so from your point...I'm one of the few Americans whom aren't "Homers" because of this election...

When I was posting this it suddenly occurred to me that "Right Wing Professor" will probably read this so why don't I change the title just to piss him off.
