I am getting really tired of academics who would have trouble passing my freshman comp class tell me I am stupid.
I am getting very tired of these same people telling me that we should throw out the constitution and over two hundred years of successful governance which has broadened the francise and concept of govering by the people for the people to accept more and more people under the umbrella of franchised citizen, come far to overcome historical biases agains people of diffent ethnicities and gender and offered countless people a chance at liberty and prosperity they cound not find in their homelands, so we can adopt a socialist model of government which has been demonstrated to work poorly enough that the leading countries of Europe have a standard of living below the majority of our nation.
Why, o why should we want to exchange prosperity and the chance for a better life so he can have a big ego?

Our nation was very lucky to have such a mix of people at the right time...we avoided the purges and dictatorships that have followed in the wake of so many new countries or governments...We owe a lot to their foresight and desire to do the right thing.

I wonder if the Wits Enders borrowed from Mel, or the other way around. The play was on around 1980 - at the time I was a judicial clerk at the District court here, and Judge Evans (who got assigned the case) decreed a special showing of the play for the court (and it seemed like about half the numerous employees of the court who apparently had nothing better to do that evening.)
It was a shame it got enjoined, it was screamingly funny.
And of course times have changed, because The Wind Done Gone did not get enjoined . . . and it wasn't even funny!

"It is no surprise that the Southern red states (the Bible Belt) have the worst health care, the worst educational systems and the highest divorce rates."
I would be willing to bet that people who fall under these categories in the Red States tend to vote Democrat more than Republican. BTW, he fails to mention there are more people in the Southeast now then the North East. So naturally the number s will be higher.

They were doing brilliant stuff as far back as the 60's.
A song about Peachtree Street: "They're tearing up Peachtree again, again, they're tearing up Peachtree again."
But the best was "Take It Back to Rich's" In those days and for many years after you could take anything back to Rich's (department store) no matter where you bought it or what it was. Don't like your little brother? Take him back to Rich's.

That's what I was thinking as I read this screed. I wonder if the good professor (ret.) would agree that those that earn their living off the state should not be allowed to vote themselves monies from the state? I also think it's wrong to let those who make money off of the law being complicated (Lawyers) take part in writing them.

Oh, yes, that's a family joke.
The cats look at the dog like, "Can't you take her back to Rich's?"
My maternal grandparents moved here in 1914. They knew the store when it was still M. Rich & Son.

My paternal grandmother worked in Rich's Men's Store in the downtown basement for many years. God never put a sweeter woman on this planet.

I bet our grandmothers knew each other. Mine was a downtown Rich's habitue.
I wouldn't exactly call her sweet . . . she was a rock-ribbed Scotch Presbyterian . . . but she was good and kind.

The looney left has earned its name.
25 years ago this fool would have been saying that the USSR will inevitably outlast the USA.
This "professor" (and I use the term only to be generous) has obviously REFUSED to learn ANYTHING from history.
You have to feel sorry for the students who had to suffer his incompetent teaching.

Mine was sweet to the point of lacking discipline toward her children. (My father and his two brothers became solid citizens: Old Boys High, Ga Tech, etc.). The one who would definitely know your mother is my mother-in-law. She is old Atlanta and, according to her, she knows every %$^&*body. LOL!
My grandmother and yours probably knew each other if your grandmother bought a lot of clothes for your grandfather.

Good point. So what do we have today? Leftists control our big media, schools, universities and entertainment empires. How exactly is the old USSR, though dead, not outlasting the USA?

Which is why the Senators were originally elected by the State legislators. The legislature could be counted upon to select a representative who would consider the state's requirements and not have to face a popular election. The founders balanced interests of the states against the mob.
