CAIRO, Egypt (AP) - A militant group posted a video on the Web on Wednesday showing gunmen killing execution-style two Iraqis said to have set up an Internet system in northern Iraq to help in this month's elections.
The two men are shown in the video kneeling blindfolded next to a stone wall before being shot in the head.
"This is the end of any apostate who cooperates with the crusader troops in Iraq in their war against Islam," the militant group Ansar al-Sunnah Army said in a statement screened on the video after the slaying.
The group accused the two Iraqis of working to "facilitate the elections" on Jan. 30. Insurgents have stepped up violence across Iraq in a bid to wreck the vote. Ansar al-Sunnah has previously claimed responsibility for various bloody attacks and kidnapping of foreigners in Iraq.
The video appeared on a Web site known for carrying messages from Islamic militant groups. Its authenticity could not be verified.
On the video, each man read a statement in Arabic while sitting alone in front of an Ansar al-Sunnah banner. The first man gave his name as Mohammed Abdullah and said he was an engineer working for an American company called "Proactive."
Abdullah said he went to the northern Iraqi cities of Mosul and Irbil to set up Internet connections "to facilitate the elections."
The second man identified himself as Ali Ghrain and gave the same details about his work.
Both men held a sheet of paper. A close-up view showed the paper appeared to be a worksheet, headlined "SG.C2 Communications Program" and carrying the name, phone number and e-mail address of Maj. Robert Sile.
When The Associated Press called Sile, it found he had not heard of the videotape or of the men's deaths.
"They are not working directly for me. I never met them personally," Sile said, interviewed from his office in Baghdad.
Sile recognized Proactive as a company that does contract work for the U.S. military, but he said he could not confirm whether the men worked for Proactive or for a subcontractor.
The video showed a laptop computer, CDs, satellite phones, and other pieces of equipment that allegedly belonged to Abdullah and Ghrain. The video did not say when or how the men were kidnapped.
Insurgent attacks in Mosul, Iraq's third-largest city, have increased dramatically in recent months. Leaflets have been distributed warning residents not to go to polling stations on Jan. 30, when Iraqis are due to elect a transitional national assembly that will draw up a constitution.

"This is the end of any apostate who cooperates with the crusader troops in Iraq in their war against Islam," the militant group Ansar al-Sunnah Army said in a statement screened on the video after the slaying.
This is how they treat fellow muslims. Any guess on how much mercy they will show to non-muslims...
Obviously these elections are the cryptonite to the insurgency. They obviously fear democracy coming. But, democracy cannot be stopped. It is just sad that these two Iraqi patriots had to pay for freedom with their lives as so many of our brave young men and women have.
Amen.
The Ansar al Sunnah Army posted today an internet video showing the killing of two Iraqis who were working for a US internet company that Ansar al Sunnah claims is involved in preparations for the Iraqi elections.
The video footage aired by the group showed both men making statements, claiming that they were involved in setting up an internet network to facilitate voting in the towns of Mosul and Arbil.
The first man to speak (shown above in a still image from the video) identifiedhimself as Mohamed Abdullah. I am an engineer working for Proactiv. They sent us to set up the internet in Mosul and Arbil to facilitate elections," the man said.
The second man (shown above in a still image from the video) identified himself as Ali Khodeir and said he was an assistant engineer.
The tape showed laptop computers, disks, cables and other electronic equipment the group said they had found with the men. The video concluded with the two men blindfolded facing away from the camera being executed with a gunshot to the head.
The Ansar al Sunnah Army statement claimed the killings were "an example to others. This is the end of all apostates who help the crusader forces in Iraq in their war against Islam".
The complete statement as posted on the Ansar al Sunnah Army website, translated from Arabic, follows:

The Lions of Unity have captured and executed an engineer and his assistant who work for American Proactiv, and have released a [video] tape
In the name of Allah, the beneficent, the merciful
The praise of the noble Allah benevolent the disappointing of the apostates and the Americans and the prayer and the baskets on the cheerful the fight is our prophet Mohammad and on its family and its friends and who supported it
And then:
Allah said Say unto those who disbelieve: Ye shall be overcome and be gathered unto Hell, an evil resting-place. [The Quran] The Imran's Family, Verse 12.
Despite all our strong warnings and our repeated operations against all who participate in and prepare for and who help with the elections, even mentioning the legal evidence supporting the prohibition of these elections, because they grant legitimacy to the forces of the Crusaders in Iraq. Yet with all of these warnings, there are still groups of apostates who insist on helping to ensure the success of the elections.
These two are among those apostates. They work for an American company called American Proactiv, and they have been assigned the task of setting up the internet in the voting centers of the Crusader forces in the cities of Mosul and Arbil in the north of Iraq. They have actually completed their tasks in Mosul and Arbil. They were observed and captured with all of their equipment. After an investigation, and after we recognized what they had done, we were entrusted with the execution of Allahs command. This took place with their execution by shooting so that they provide a lesson to others.
We say to all who support the forces and have anything to do with the elections farce: Repent now and stop your disbelief so that you save your soulds, or accept the hollowness of your fate as was the fate of these, as Allah is my witness
And may Allah grant peace and greetings to our prophet Mohammad and to his family and his friends.

It's a good thing that they didn't get real nasty and put somebody's underware on these guy's head. There's no telling what kind of outrage that would have caused in the Global Village/MSM.

That's funny, I don't hear any liberals.
Perhaps that's because the abusers and murderers are men after their own hearts and are only doing what they themselves would do if weren't sufficiently well armed to keep their ambitions in check.
Thanks for the additional information....
"It can't be said enough - Islam is the "religion" of peace."
It can't be said enough...the two men murdered by the terrorists were also followers of Islam, and they were murdered for trying to set up free elections in Iraq.
See #7, full scale propaganda setup/ worthy of Goebbel.
Come on, presstitutes... this should read:
A terrorist group posted a video on the Web on Wednesday showing gunmen murdering two Iraqis said to have set up an Internet system in northern Iraq to help in this month's elections.
You do realize that was sarcasm, right?
