he bigger they come, the harder they fall. Michael Moore has been busting his rather sizable hump for two months on a campaign to get his anti-Bush polemic, "Fahrenheit 9/11," nominated for an Oscar.
But when the nominees were announced yesterday, his incendiary movie was nowhere to be seen despite the liberal bent of many Academy Awards voters, who two years ago gave Moore the Best Documentary prize for "Bowling for Columbine."
"A lot of the Academy members agree with Moore's politics, so I thought they would give him a Best Picture nomination," says Hollywood Reporter online columnist Martin Grove.
Moore's film was always considered a long shot for an Oscar nod, especially after he withdrew it from contention in the Best Documentary category to focus on the Best Picture race.
But while Moore may be guilty of overreaching, he campaigned hard.
"Last December, Michael went door to door, pitching the movie," recalls David Poland, editor of the showbiz-industry Web site MovieCityNews.com.
[snip]
The notoriously schlubby Moore even got a Hollywood makeover for the campaign, showing up at the Jan. 9 People's Choice Awards with a snazzy suit and spiky hairdo, and without his scruffy beard and trademark baseball cap.

What makes this Oscar snub all the more fun to laugh at is the obscene amount of money His Immenseness spent campaigning for a nomination.

Hey Michael -- how does it feel to go from box seat at the Democrat Convention to has-been in a few short months?

Well... I guess he could always start an internet site where his disciples could come and pay homage. He could call it

If Hollywood screams in the middle of a forrest and nobody hears them, did they make a sound ?
Don't watch the Oscars, vote with your remote !

Carrie Fisher told Bill O'Reilly that the movie could not qualify for an Oscar because it was considered in the documentary category..and she was a voting member..I got the impression that the word out in the voting membership was to use the term ''documentary' in reference to why it would not qualify for a Best Picture entry....so they could bypass that controversy..of course, perhaps many have finally figured out that political palaver has consequences...in the pocketbook..and they are refraining from continuing down that path for now...

Michael Medvid sure put the Acadamy Awards ceremony in it's place yesterday morning. On Laura Ingerham's show, he mentioned that at Carson's heyday, he was watched by millions of Americans each evening. In fact, the night Tiny Tim was married on the Show, more viewers watched that show than will be watching the Oscars this year.
That's an amazing factoid, and it sure speaks volumes about how meaningless the Oscars have become.

I'm skeptical of the fact that he wined and dined agents or anybody, considering the fact that this oaf is loath to spend any of his own money! This article would seem more true if he simply handed out some Top Ramon noodles to the agents or maybe a pair of his dirty disgusting underwear like he did to the kids on the college compasses that came to hear him speak on why they should vote for Lurch!......... Oh I forgot they didn't come through for him either!
To: kattracks
No, No, NO... I wasn't snubbed. Bush payed them off...

Haven't watched the Oscars in about 10 years. I catch bits and pieces of it but trying to watch Crystal or Whoopie for more than 5 minutes is a bit overbearing for me. Now they pick pedophile movies as movie of the year, Barf !
Chris Rock is hosting this year, the racial insults will be flying. Take away race cheap shots and Chris ain't funny anymore.
