Men accounted for 66 percent of overall deaths attributed to sexual behavior. But researchers say if HIV/AIDS deaths are taken out of that figure then 80 percent of the deaths would be among women, largely due to cervical cancer deaths.

Wasn't the sexual revolution so liberating? Freedom is great when you know that some freedoms are best avoided.

My liberal Chicago suburb of Oak Park wants to outlaw smoking in all restaurants because "public health always trumps economic concerns." This is in response to the restaurant and bar owners who are furious, because they will lose the business of smokers. So, if this is true, do liberals support closing down gay bath houses, because "public health always trumps economic concerns?"

Liberals suck.

We need a "SEX TAX" to recover the cost that we are all paying for the risky behavior of a few licentious people.

All this without even attempting to factor in the number of child deaths (abortions) from unwanted pregnancies resulting from some of these same risky practices.

Can't modern "reporters" dicern the Direct Object from Indirect Object? It is the PEOPLE PERFORMING THE ACTS who are putting others at risk, not the fault of the acts themselves! This is like the "SUV kills" thing that Rush s always yelping about.

The study showed that sexual behavior accounted for nearly 30,000 deaths and around 20 million adverse health consequences in 1998, such as infertility, abortions, and sexually transmitted infections.

So, abortion is an adverse health consequence. That's certainly a different way to look at it. I'm annoyed by the feminist/homosexual spin on the article though.... If you take out the most serious health risk the HIV/AIDs numbers for men, then mostly women suffer.

Risky sexual behavior among Americans is putting the public’s health at risk, according to a new CDC study.

A "NEW" study?

"Researchers estimated that more than 2 million years of life were cut short due to premature death and loss of healthy life because of a disability attributable to sexual behavior."

That's okay, I only wanted to live to 1.5 million years anyway.

Speaking of cognitive dissonance, Newsmax's front page headlines, "King says democracy can't work in the Middle East."

Any conflict of interest here?

But not among homosexuals, right? It's just happening to the repressed, unenlightened, straight people, right? Everybody knows that AIDS and rising rates of STDs among gays and minorities is the fault of the current administration.

Not to downplay this, but the number we're talking about here is 30,000 deaths a year. Every year, about 2.4 million Americans die of all causes combined.

That means that sexual behavior is responsible for about 1.25% of all deaths in the US every year. It's not even in the top ten causes of death.

Researchers found cervical cancer and HIV infection were the leading causes of sexual behavior-related death among women and HIV was the single biggest cause of death among men.

Researchers estimated that more than 2 million years of life were cut short due to premature death and loss of healthy life because of a disability attributable to sexual behavior. That's 6% of the national total of DALYs.

Nearly two-thirds of the health problems caused by sexual behavior were borne by women, who were also most affected by sexual behavior-related disability.

Men accounted for 66% of overall deaths attributed to sexual behavior. But researchers say if HIV/AIDS deaths are taken out of that figure then 80% of the deaths would be among women, largely due to cervical cancer deaths.

Cervical cancer is strongly associated with certain high-risk strains of the human papilloma virus, which is a sexually transmitted infection.
