Jeez Indy, I don't like that "Cape Canaveral" in the link you provided. Not one bit. WTF is that all about he said, sitting not that far downwind? Do we have our own Plum Island here in Florida? Or is this just how rumors get started? :)

I have a question.

I seem to recall a year or two ago there was a sample of perfume sent to Tony Blair's wife.

They said that they receive stuff like that all the time. But this one turned out not to be a legitimate sample. They didn't say it contained sarin, but the whole thing was suspicious, then, as usual, we haven't heard any more about it.

I tried to find the article, but couldn't.

Do you remember anything about this and/or perhaps have the link to the article?

I found this part of Sec. Rice's answer to a question (in France) fascinating:

Transcript: Rice's Speech on Transatlantic Ties

QUESTION: Madam Secretary, I would like to ask you a question about chemical and biological proliferation. Because we are lacking a multilateral system similar to the imperfect but at least existing system in the nuclear field, the IAEA and the NPT.

And here, what steps do we intend to take to have multilateral verification systems on chemical and biological weapons, knowing that all these efforts have stalled since the beginning of your administration four years ago?

RICE: Well, thank you.

In fact, we have been very active in trying to deal with the problems of chemical and biological weapons but, as you know, it's not easy.

You mentioned the problem of verification. The problem of verification is particularly severe and difficult with biological and chemical weapons because very often the very same means that one uses to make a biological weapon or a chemical weapon can be for completely innocent means: so-called dual-use products.

So that, for instance, the chlorine that can be used to purify a swimming pool can also be the basis for a chemical weapon. The same laboratory that can be used to find a cure for cancer can be used to make biological weapons.

And these are made in very small spaces that can be easily concealed.

It's especially difficult when you're dealing with very closed states that are making an effort to deceive and prevent verification from taking place.

I have no doubt that verification, for most of the world -- for European countries, for the United States, for many of our friends and allies around the world -- is much less of a problem because, of course, these are open societies.

And when they declare that they are not going to build something, there is La Monde or the New York Times or somebody that is going to make certain that the information gets out about what is being done.

RICE: The problem is with closed dictatorial societies that are trying to deceive.

So we have been party to the conventions and we have been active in the conventions. We need to redouble our efforts to make certain that, for instance, when we find some evidence that we believe points to biological or chemical weapons programs, that we are prepared to act to hold accountable those states in which it's found. It's a very serious problem.

It is also a serious problem for terrorism, because biological weapons or chemical weapons would be much easier for a terrorist organization. We in the United States experienced what just a little anthrax could do. And so it is a very serious problem.

It's a huge intelligence problem, given the closed nature of some of these societies.

But we do have the international conventions and we continue to work within them.

I'm not surprised at all. I actually read the Deulfer report instead of relying on the MSM interpretations of it.

I've already had some dumb libs tell me that it isn't true because it is a Fox News story. Can you believe the willful ignorance of these people?

A drop of information from the oceans of yet unrevealed facts...at least in MSM. Remember, at one point I had a long list of links to stories of WMD finds. Few of them were huge stockpiles, but the coalition found a lot--the chem-suits, the self-injecters, suitcases with vials, and some things that they claimed were "nothing" yet to this day some think are suspicious.

Add to that all the information we have about the connections between Saddam and AQ--at least one book entirely devoted to the subject--and you have to conclude that the MSM is full of raving liars who are trying to protect our enemies. Which, by the way, makes them part of that group--in my mind.

Here is the link to the report, for anyone else who wants to read it.

We should try to find the exact location, so we can refer the skeptical libs to it.

Tommy Franks mentioned them in his book also

I started to look throught the report, and on the very first page of the Key Findings it says:

"The introduction of the Oil-For-Food program (OFF) in late 1996 was a key turning point for the Regime.
OFF rescued Baghdad’s economy from a terminal decline created by sanctions. The Regime quickly came
to see that OFF could be corrupted to acquire foreign exchange both to further undermine sanctions and to
provide the means to enhance dual-use infrastructure and potential WMD-related development."

Why didn't the MSM even bother to read and report about the info on the very first page?!

It's just info on what sarin gas really is, and it's bad stuff. Doesn't hurt to be informed. I'm interested in it partly because my daughter is NBC, and spent her 21st birthday in a sarin nerve gas chamber at AIT.

I couldn't find one about perfume, but did find BOY ADMITS SENDING CAUSTIC FACE RUB TO CHERIE BLAIR which tells a very strange story--mystery man on the internet? Not sure if this is AQ-type terrorism, but it leaves one with a lot of questions.

I do remember -- there is a tremendous amount of evidence out there already, but the MSM and Democrats dismissed each one, that somehow "it doesn't count", and they kept talking about "stockpiles".

A few ounces of anthrax can kill thousands, but I guess if we didn't find a hundred ton of it, enough to wipe out the entire world's population, it doesn't count.

The Republicans should have fought back, and not allow the distortion of the facts by the MSM.

Thanks, MizSterious.

This is probably what I was thinking about, but I forgot the details.

But even if that was only a stupid, but dangerous prank, AQ could have done the same thing -- send legitimate looking samples to wifes of world leaders. If they use it, it's a big success for AQ, if not, they haven't lost anything, it would still terrorize people.

Remember how afraid everyone was about just opening their mail, because of the possibility of anthrax contamination?

It would stop people shopping in stores, buying things via the net or mailorder.

AQ is on record of saying, that they want to destroy the economy of the US.

Tye LeftStream Media won't report on it because they're too busy being saddened that this didn't happen.

That's right, it would take a very sophisticated dispersal mechanism and appropriate weather conditions to kill that many people. This is hype.

The point is that even if a few people die in various malls across America, people will be afraid to go there, stop shopping and it would hurt the economy.
