Down Mexico Way - (New Russ Vaughn Poem)
CHRONWATCH.COM ^ | FEBRUARY 14, 2005 | RUSS VAUGHN

Try crossing our southern border; try going the other way,
To enter Mexico illegally for an extended, unlawful stay.
Ignore immigration quotas, all their visas and their fees,
And quietly slip their border, anytime you damn well please.
Just sneak in past the policía, ignoring Mexican laws;
You’ve a desperate need to improve your lot; you have a righteous cause.
With Evil Bush in power now, destroying your liberal order,
You’ve a right to seek asylum, to trespass their northern border.

Once there, speak English only and demand it in their schools;
Forget assimilation, make Mexicanos change their rules.
What right do these Latinos have to make you learn their lingo?
Tell those churlish campesinos¹ you’ve the right to remain a gringo.
Move right on in, live your own way, ignore their cultural norms,
And demand the use of English on all their official forms.
Free healthcare is, of course, your right; let poor peones² pay,
For bilingual health providers throughout your border-bending stay.

Be sure to have a baby just as quickly as you can;
A citizen in the family helps legitimize your clan.
Then have another three or four, or maybe six or eight;
Don’t worry how you’ll feed them, just demand help from the state.
Paisanos³ paying taxes may resent your reckless breeding,
And protest loudly to their states about your gringo kids they’re feeding;
“But it’s just our way,” is your excuse, “Brought from our Yanquí land.”
How dare they question gringo ways they’ll never understand?

So defend your Anglo ethos; yield not your Yanquí essence;
And demand a driver’s license to legitimize your presence.
Just so you know what you’ve done wrong in case of policía stops,
Insist the Federales must teach English to all cops.
Make Mexicans accept your ways, make them your pliant fools;
Demand a Yanquí culture course be taught in all their schools.
So what you paid no taxes; when you’re an old gringo who will care?
File for your Seguridad Social, after all, you’re due your share.

If all this sounds preposterous, an irrational expectation,
Dems are demanding it for Illegals now in our multicultural nation.

Another bit of hypocrisy for you...

The folks at MALDEF and LaRaza have sued everywhere they can to get the provisions of Arizona's Proposition 200 nullified. All three provisions are already in effect in Mexico. I guess they came here to escape political persecution, eh?

The Mythical AZTLAN is all you have to remember. They still believe this land is theirs.

Actually, having lived and worked in Mexico for a number of years now, I've met quite a number of these "illegal alien" gringos who don't learn Spanish, don't adjust to Mexican ways and are... tolerated, as long as they don't get into trouble.

"Aztlan" exists more on the internet than in reality. Someone once joked that Aztlan was invented by anti-immigration activists to give them a real threat.

"Aztlan" doesn't have much support, and isn't much known outside of the U.S. A few of their supporters show up in Mexico once in a while, but aren't taken as more than a minor national security threat by the local authorities.

Every once in a while I hear from some American who wants to work or visit here and mentions that organization. From what I can tell, those people know nothing about Mexico, or Mexican history and culture, and often don't realize the group is more a fascist cult than anything else. Most of their website seems to be given over to anti-semetic diatribes than anything else.

Really? We have had occasional run-ins with some of the (CA) University-based members of LaRaza here in Cochise County, and they resemble nothing so much as Marxist wannabes.

I think we're talking about two different organizations... though some people could belong to both. People might join both "Aztlan" and "LaRaza" out of an interest in Mexican-American affairs, not being aware of their political leanings.

Then again, doctrinaire Marxists and Fascists sound pretty much alike.

Wow, that is a hard hitting poem.

Because you have posted it, the P.C. police will be here soon, to start calling you a "racist", "xenophobe", a "anti-hispanic" and a "bigot".

Count on it.

Is "Aztlan" an organization? Or are you thinking of...what is it...El Voz de Aztlan?

To be honest, I'm not all that up on the organizations, it's the stated aims and goals that I try to look at with these kooks coming down here.

I recall this one from boot camp in San Diego:

Here's to the American Eagle

With wings as white as snow

Flys all over the United States

and sh*ts on old Mexico

Here's to old Mexico

Land so fertile and rich

We don't need your noble birdsh*t

you gringo sonofabitch

I'll keep my chuckle to myself as I'm not sure what passes for racism around here anymore.
