Ann Coulter did a good article "9 out of 10 caribou support drilling"
snip below
When oil exploration began in Alaska's Prudhoe Bay 30 years ago, environmentalists claimed it would yield only a "few months' supply" of oil and would wreck the ecosystem. Prudhoe Bay turned out to be the largest deposit of oil ever found in North America. Caribou frolic and play by the pipeline. In 20 years, the caribou population has skyrocketed, from 3,000 to almost 27,100.
9 out of 10 caribou support drilling
But hey, why let facts get in the way of an insane liberal rant!!

I was inspecting the DEW Line in 1969. As I remember, the caribou herds numbered more than 30,000 then. I can attest to this. I was at the DEW Line site just east of Prudeau Bay and watched the herd migrating from the Brooks Range onto the ANWR. The herd was a river of animals and the movement went on for several days. From the dining room window I watched for hours on end as the herd crossed a river. The wolf packs were following the herd and when a calf or old caribou wandered away from the herd the wolves would surround and bring down their breakfast!!!
Today because of the TransAlaskan Pipeline the herds have increased in size to over 100,000. Why? The oil extracted at Prudeau bay is heated by volcanic activitiy below the oil deposits. It comes out of the ground at over 300F. This is why the oil pipeline was not buried since it would have damaged the permafrost. The elevated pipeline, about 10-12 feet above the ground radiates heat and the caribou have learned to stay warm in the winter by gathering under the pipeline. Results? Lower calf mortality and longer life spans for the "old folks". Digging in the ANWR is a win-win!

I have worked for a lot of oil companies, but I have never heard of "Big Oil". Do they have an office in North America? I'd like to add them to my client's list....
At least I made it that far.
How come "Big" is good enough that hollywierd actresses pay to get them that way, but bad for anything else commercial?

Drill for oil and screw Alaska's wildlife? You'd think there would be quite a proportion of the population in San Francisco that would support the latter.

Morford -- professional liar par excellence' -- conveniently omits the fact that since Prudhoe Bay was opened to oil drilling, the caribou population has increased five fold. Never let it be said that EnviroMarxists like Morford are troubled by facts.

I'm sure this will help Mr. Dean and the DNC in their efforts to convince Red State voters that liberals have no problem at all with religion. Never mind Bill Maher calling religion a "neurological disorder" or the ravings of almost all of the hosts on Air America about religion in general being evil or Phil Donohue (sp? Actually, who cares really?) catagorizing religion as being all about "Intolerance". Yeah, this is a winning strategy.

Too bad he hasn't written an article showing us his opinion about the Schiavo case.
Let's cry out about drilling for oil, but let's shut our mouths about Terri.

I would really like to see Red Staters take back or redefine the enviornment issue from New York lawyers and Hollywood ingenues. In fact, it is red staters who actually know and respect nature. We should insist that the Blues get out of court and clean up the messes they have made.

Why Does God Hate Caribou? No, Markie, You've been misinformed. God hates snail-darters. That's why he came to me in a dream and instructed me to wipe them out.
