This is an actual vote on a nominee in 1830. The Nominee was Alexander Macomb. I know a little about him so I know why the result is what it is. Nevertheless, it is the perfect example.

That the nomination lie on the table, it was determined in the negative: Yeas, 18, Nays, 19.

So there it is, a simple majority takes it.

Listen to this fat ass liar blowing a fuse. If only the whole country could see this.

Half of this country are so ignorant they don't even know where the Senate is and what it does.

Thank you for your remarks. This is the bottom line that eliminates any "solid argument" for a supermajority:

The 1987 CONSTITUTIONAL CONVENTION specifically debated this. http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1404953/posts
>>> On June 13, 1787, it was originally proposed that judges be “appointed by the national Legislature,” and that was rejected; Madison objected and made the alternative motion that appointments be made by the Senate, and that was at first approved. Madison specifically proposed that a “supermajority” be required for judicial appointments but this was rejected.

The CONSTITUTION AS RATIFIED has ONLY majority requirement for judicial appointments.

Thanks for the respectful debate. I have to run now.

** NOW, I wouldn't think that Sen. Kerry or Clinton would be ashamed of their vote, considering the states they come from,...so why are they hiding? Oh, yeah, presidential aspirations... **

You're exactly right!! They don't want to join up with their moron buddies, due to 2008 hopes and dreams.. What a couple of loosers.

Kennedy has competely lost his mind. He is screaming about No Child Left Behind and etc. He must have heard about the poll from yesterday and he thinks the public is on his side. I think he's gonna have a heart attack. His face is BRIGHT RED.

I don't know, but Hatch just said that he wanted the chair to put the "rest of my remarks on the record", so I guess he isn't going to insist on giving all of them...even later!

Which is too bad, because he was making great points about the DEMS and their chicanery and poppycock!!! LOL

Kennedy may have a stroke he is so upset---I will NOT say what I am hoping....nope, not gonna do it!

You know, if those 6 RINOs walk into Frist's office with a "compromise"..he should play them a tape of Kennedy and ask them all.."Are you friggin' out of your mind?"
