A Reputation in Tatters

George W. Bush and his gang of neocon warmongers have destroyed America’s reputation. It is likely to stay destroyed, because at this point the only way to restore America’s reputation would be to impeach and convict President Bush for intentionally deceiving Congress and the American people in order to start a war of aggression against a country that posed no threat to the United States.

America can redeem itself only by holding Bush accountable.

As intent as Republicans were to impeach President Bill Clinton for lying about a sexual affair, they have a blind eye for President Bush’s far more serious lies. Bush’s lies have caused the deaths of tens of thousands of people, injured and maimed tens of thousands more, devastated a country, destroyed America’s reputation, caused 1 billion Muslims to hate America, ruined our alliances with Europe, created a police state at home, and squandered $300 billion dollars and counting.

America’s reputation is so damaged that not even our puppets can stand the heat. Anti-American riots, which have left Afghan cities and towns in flames and hospitals overflowing with casualties, have forced Bush’s Afghan puppet, “President” Hamid Karzai, to assert his independence from his U.S. overlords. In a belated act of sovereignty, Karzai asserted authority over heavy-handed U.S. troops whose brutal and stupid ways sparked the devastating riots. Karzai demanded control of U.S. military activities in Afghanistan and called for the return of the Afghan detainees who are being held at the U.S. prison in Guantanamo Bay in Cuba.

Abundant evidence now exists in the public domain to convict George W. Bush of the crime of the century. The secret British government memo (dated July 23, 2002, and available here), leaked to the Sunday Times (which printed it on May 1, 2005), reports that Bush wanted “to remove Saddam, through military action, justified by the conjunction of terrorism and WMD. But the intelligence and facts were being fixed around the policy. . . . But the case was thin. Saddam was not threatening his neighbors, and his WMD capability was less than that of Libya, North Korea or Iran. . . . The (United Kingdom) attorney general said that the desire for regime change was not a legal base for military action. There were three possible legal bases: self-defense, humanitarian intervention or UNSC (U.N. Security Council) authorization. The first and second could not be the base in this case. Relying on UNSCR 1205 of three years ago would be difficult.”

This memo is the mother of all smoking guns. Why isn’t Bush in the dock?

Has American democracy failed at home?

He's changed his point of view

In all seriousness, I am flabbergasted to see this coming from Roberts.

Muslims hated the US since the days of Jimmy Carter.

Who DON'T the Muslims hate? Jews? Christians? Hindus? Buddhists? Hell, they slaughter each other with suicide bombers and car bombs, kill their women for nonexistant offenses, and strap bombs to their own children as they get on to city buses - Let's not pretend that hatred towards anyone is unusual for this blood cult.

As if the election never happened. All this and more was said in the 2004 campaign. The people heard it and they have, resoundingly, decided. But, that is what things have come to, when the left (and I know this guy is not a leftist per se, but he sure sounds like one) doesn't get the election result it wants, it just goes right back into campaign mode.

Constant campaign mode=no ideas, just rhetoric. Bush lied, Iraq is Vietnam, America (so long as it is ruled by the Repubs) bad, Republicans are power hungry (don't they know elections mean nothing), Bush caused 9/11 (by virtue of being elected), Republicans are corrupt (by virtue of being elected),

I am honestly so sick of hearing it, I tune them out. To me, when Howard Dean or Reid speak, they sound like Charlie Brown's teacher mwaap, mwaaap, mwaap, mawwp.

They've hated all infidels since the days of Mohammad.

"Some", not "all". The Ottoman Empire was one of the first entities in the world to recognize the United States of America.

Last time I looked the Ottomans were hard core Muslims.

Hehe, I love to play the game of "Pigeonhole the Author". I try to see how long it takes to figure out their political bent, and discounting the title, the first appearance of the word "warmonger" classifies the author most effectively. Ultra-lib, Marxist 60's wannabe.

"America’s reputation is so damaged that not even our puppets can stand the heat."

Actually, the puppets in 'Team America' withstand heat quite well!

Yeah, I see this as an attempt by the very few survivors of the isolationist wing of the conservative movement to start for the lack of a better word 'a jihadist war' inside the conservative movement. Instead of using suicide bombers to get Sunni and Shiite to warring (Zarqawi's strategy) the Buchanon-Roberts wing are attacking Bush to initiate the same thing figuring when the rubble clears they will be standing and in control. You might say this is their last hope of regaining power.

intentionally deceiving Congress and the American people in order to start a war of aggression against a country that posed no threat to the United States.

His insanity starts right there. Iraq WAS a threat to us. In 1987 they sent two Exocert missiles into the USS STARK killing about 37 sailors. That's enough for me.

"Uh...excuse me...but weren't these the same people who said 9/11 was because the Muslims hated us - and Bush was in office for less than 9 mos."

Yep, and it has already been admitted by Al Q that they had bee planning the attack for 3 - 4 years, during Clinton's administration. Impeach Clinton. oops, already been done.

"caused 1 billion Muslims to hate America"

I've got news for ya Paul, the Muslims already hated us for a myriad of irrational reasons. Where have you been the last 30 years, hiding in your office contemplating your navel?

It's been several years since I read this guy too. Last time was on the Metrorail coming home. He had some nonsense article that was so poorly organized I assumed he had a stroke or was using drugs of some kind.

BTW, HL Mencken in his declining years kept secret journals filled with anti-Jewish invective. Whenever you find yourself in a discussion with a Liberal and they cite Mencken, remind them that Mencken was secretly an anti-semite ~ and you can prove it too!

Charitble folks credit it to a series of small strokes the man had. I give Roberts the same latitude as well. However, there is no longer any need to read him.

Yep, as soon as you see a phrase like that, you know what'll follow next. No more reading required.

"This is just another hate Bush rant by a left wing liberal, loser, and insanely delusional man."

The libs have been sitting around twiddling their thumbs because they have had no rallying point. All it took was one leftist newspaper to run an article spinning the Newsweek idiocy around to blame Bush, instead of blaming the violence on the Islamic propagandists where it belongs, and the left is psyched and back to high-fiving each other in looneyland.
