A disgruntled former CIA operative hoping to hurt President Bush was likely Newsweek's source on the fake Quran-in-the-toilet story, says geopolitical expert Jack Wheeler, and his action now means journalists will no longer trust the ex-Langley agents forced out by chief Porter Goss.
In a column on his intelligence website, To the Point, Wheeler writes of this "silver lining" to the Newsweek story penned by reporter Michael Isikoff.

Bush should have cleaned house after he took over...but as usual...he is being nice to the democrats...Gaggggg
Wonder how Condi's coming with the State Department ?
Give the jerk a bunk next to that scum....Pollard.
Good little article. Makes alot of sense.
I havent heard that Cond8i is cleaning house...if she had, the times would be screaming bloody murder.
Hillary went after a few people in the travel office to let everyone know she was to be feared. Our side just doesnt have the guts to do what needs to be done.

Then why the disgruntled CIA people? Looks like Goss DOES have guts.
Could it be true? Maybe. Could Newsweek do an order of magnitude better job in research and verification? Absolutely.
This might or might not be a silver lining. Shinseki was pushed out by Rumsfeld, his doctrines thrown aside, and those boosters of the president celebrated. it took over 18 months for the administration to begrudgingly admit Shinseki's doctrines on force structure should have been part of the post invasion occupation.
Only time will tell if those men thrown aside by Goss were correct, or at least should have been held on as counsel to balance the viewpoints within the CIA.
The "source" knew what he/she/it was doing. That is where the real stories are. We have begun to root out the Oil for Food scandal at the UN. This is next.
Honestly this "Scandal" does not matter, but it would be worth setting up Newsweek to bite such a tasty trap.
Stupid Muslims/Arabs/Islamic/Towel-Heads/Etc will hate what is not their culture no matter what we do unless we all convert or die...
Do you think Kofi will blame his tribulations on Karl Rove or on the VRWC? Of course they are one and the same as far as the left is concerned.
It's probably America's fault because we didn't specifically tell anyone not to profit from the sale of Iraiqi oil at the expense of innocent Iraqis.
No, no man, didn't you see? Just the other day a group of Jewish buttheads were protesting for I think Laura Bush on behalf of releasing Jonathan?
He'll be released any moment.
He's a national hero after all.
Hang the puke spy.
Maybe there was no source at all?! 100% Fabrication.
A very long shot, but possibly Valerie Plame?
If this is true that's one very stupid "anti-Bush CIA official".
Oh, please!
Newsweek isn't any more interested in exposing and punishing their "source" than CBS was in exposing their document forger. I'm pretty sure that's how you tell they were part of the conspiracy.
True. Newsweek is so predictable it isn't even newsworthy. It's also part of the problem.
But there have to be real journalists out there somewhere. After all, Eric Shawn finally had the guts/integrity to go after the UN!
So maybe not Newsweek...but somebody else.
