Rep. Tom Tancredo, a vocal critic of President Bush's immigration policy, says he will run for president in 2008 if no one else steps forward to press the issue.
The Colorado Republican was in Nashua, N.H., on Monday, speaking to the Nashua Republican City Committee.
"I don't consider myself a candidate today," Mr. Tancredo said, when asked if he is considering a presidential run, adding: "If no one will take this banner up - and I say this with great trepidation - yeah, I will. I don't know what else to do."

Flame away.
I'm a big fan of Tancredo. No flamin from me.
If our borders continue to be violated I would vote for Tancredo.
The issue of our borders is probably the most important issue facing us right now and will only become more important over the next three years.
He hasn't the slighest chance of winning the primary...it would just be a run to raise awareness of immigration issues...

I caught that on Fox this afternoon. Tancredo is one stand up guy who deserves support big time.
I'll donate to his campaign. We need someone to stand up and make it a big issue.
To repeat myself..I will not vote for Republicans again if this is not in their agenda and if they do nothing for the next two years.
Give the election to Hillary to prove the point that they need the conservative core to get re-elected.
The majority of americans want action on this issue..I aim to see that we get it.
He's definitely going to have to increase his name recognition.
Even if he had no chance of winning, simply raising the issue during primary season would hold their feet to the fire. They'd have to say something sensible for a change or damn themselves.

1- an unaccountable Judiciary.
2- whose life is it, anyway? Yours, or someone else's?
3- whose Country is it?
There are other vital issues, of course- but these three will determine just who we really are as a nation.
Instead of being a positive force to get meaningful immigration reform(such as Cornyn and Kyl) he grandstands with bellicose remarks.
He should announce his plans at Douglas, AZ.
I am a naturalized citizen.
I was not born in this country and emmigrated here legally.
I came to this country because my parents wanted for me not to grow up under a dictatorship, and instead live and prosper in freedom.
Sadly many of my compratiots, and their children, do not currently enjoy the same opportunity as I did, even though that dictatorship is still in power.
I support the positions of Tom Tancredo and what he is trying to do to curtail immigration from countries that are not a dictatorship.
Sure he has his shrill following who make him out to be the next coming from Christ but most people will say "Tancredo who?" when asked about him. Then when they learn all he does is whine about Mexicans and the Spanish language and that his experience is limited to a few terms in the House of Representatives, they'll run from him as fast as possible. Americans thankfully do not want a President who blames every single one of the country's problems on a single group of people.
Run Tancredo as the Republican nominee in 2008 and Democrat control of Congress, the White House, and the federal Courts is a certainty for the next 50 years.
No flame here...He's got my vote...
He'll probably have to run 3rd party...The Repubs could run Alfred E. Neuman or Barney Frank in the primaries and the media and RNC would convince the sheeple that one of these guys/girls is the best choice in leadership...
Oh such a good idea you have. Turn the country over to a communist just to make a point. "Destroy the village in order to save it" must be your motto.
OMG, Dane you should try and put that revelation in Breaking News, no one here knew that! TT would get my vote, just because you despise him, even if there were no other issues on the table. Blackbird.
