Tancredo 2008?
The Washington Times ^ | 6/22/2005 | Greg Pierce

Posted on 06/23/2005 4:45:36 PM PDT by 4.1O dana super trac pak

Rep. Tom Tancredo, a vocal critic of President Bush's immigration policy, says he will run for president in 2008 if no one else steps forward to press the issue.

The Colorado Republican was in Nashua, N.H., on Monday, speaking to the Nashua Republican City Committee.

"I don't consider myself a candidate today," Mr. Tancredo said, when asked if he is considering a presidential run, adding: "If no one will take this banner up - and I say this with great trepidation - yeah, I will. I don't know what else to do."

Perot supporters were not all potential Bush voters. he carried a cross section. The reason Bush One lost is because he got beat. Worst Campaign in history.

I don't know about it being the worst. Bob Dole and John Kerry were pretty awful as well.

Seems to me, the man should be respected that is willing to speak out loud and clear on an issue, when virtually everyone else hides, ignores it, or are otherwise afraid to touch it.

I agree, and I respect him very much for it. But it takes a lot more than respect to be President.

Americans care about illegal immigration.

They just don't care very much.

They just don't care very much. The Fox news poll in May to which I posted a link says 63% believe illegal immigration to be a "very serious" problem.

Thus it would seem that they care quite a bit.

"Those polls prove that people don't favor illegal immigration, but they don't feel strongly enough about the issue to vote against a candidate over it.

IOW, it just ain't that important!"

Well I guess we'll find out, starting in '06.

Well, I have read your posts and you are wrong, and it's evident you see little problem with this. So there is little reason for me to debate this with you, given the fact that it's probably the largest issue affecting America domestically.

In America today, when virtually all other politicians are silent on a big issue, and only one has the guts to speak out, it's time to pay attention to that individual.

American security begins at home. When it comes to security, our country's security trumps all others.

I agree with you. They try to silence any republican that doesnt toe the virtual open borders line.

One issue wonders like Tancredo do not win national elections.

Say something enough and it's true. The powers that be marginalize anyone that isn't part of the club.

The immigration issue isn't just "one issue". It affects jobs, the environment, the economy, government services, our culture and security.

We just have to stand behind Representative Tancredo and not let him be marginalized and ridiculed....I think he might have enough cyber-support to achieve that.

If he runs for president, that's exactly what will happen.

Well of course, those in power and entrenched, those that have profited or otherwise benefited from illegal immigration, won't sit idly by.

This is to be expected.

No, I mean he's not going to do our cause much good by running for president. He'll get less than 10%. He's a single issue candidate, and immigration is not the #1 issue on most American's minds. Maybe in the border states, but that's it.

He's doing a fine job in his current role. We need him raising hell in Congress and in the media about this issue. Someone else, with a little more depth, needs to pick up the standard in the presidential race.

I have no doubt someone will.

Well if he bought a new house in my community within the last five years their is a good chance that some of the work building the house was done by an illegal and this is in central Louisiana.Even if illegals did some work their is no way to know for sure since theirs no teeth in the law that causes contractors too think twice before hiring them.

Coulda, woulda, shoulda....if there ain't proof and if you ain't got a source, then don't bother posting what-ifs.

But, remember, anybody who rocks the socialist boat is an "extremist" in today's political climate.

Rocking the boat is JUST what America needs. The insane policy of allowing (encouraging) illegal immigration from third world countries will be the end of America as we know it. Americans must stand up and fight socialism.

GWBush is showing his socialist roots, but this IS NOT what America voted for.

After Howard Dean found solid DNC backing, I think anything is possible through internet campaigning. [Actually, I and others knew that before Dean.]

I would prefer Hannity to be president. My second choice would be Hayworth. But Tancredo will do nicely.

Calling Hannity: RUN, MAN! We need a man like you! Just for four years, even! Run from your radio station! It's the perfect stumping spot! Hey, your ratings would spike higher!

People, could you imagine how Hannity would address Hillary if she ran against him? He'd be pulling out videos of the pardoned [clemencied] FALN terrorists assembling bombs. I mean, the pain!

Hannity first choice.
Hayworth second choice.
Tancredo third choice.
Delay fourth choice. [I know. Doubtful he'd run.]
George Allen, fifth choice.
Jeb sixth choice.
Mel Gibson: wild card. Not sure how he stands on all the issues, if he even wants to run.

[All this assuming that Alan Keyes enters late, as usual-- if at all.]

[But it is fun to think about President Savage]

Bush Comforts Teen

I agree. Bush is a far cry from the Clinton days, thank God. He just doesn't put America first. We can do much better. But his love of humanity keeps him light years ahead of the rats.

Tancredo does more than grandstands. He tried to take out another GOP House member during a primary. He's not a part of their club. That's not grandstanding. That's zealotry. I'll take zealotry over a bootlicking hispanderer any day. But Hannity has the perfect temperment. He's my first choice for president. I want to push Hannity into the White House.

"One issue wonders like Tancredo do not win national elections"

You are right. But here's the hook, he can bring this issue to the forefront whilst everyone else suffers from cranial / rectal inversion syndrome. For that reason, I and many other FReepers will support him.
