Okay, we're in the middle of a holiday weekend, and I'm bored
My own twisted mind | July 3, 2005 | Me

This will probably get shunted off to general chat, but what the hell? I'm bored. So, let's list some irrelevant things and have a conversation about them.

1. All Time Favorite Movie
2. All Time Favorite War Movie
3. All Time Favorite TV show
4. All Time Favorite James Bond
5. All Time Favorite Author
6. All Time Favorite Detective(TV, Movie, or Book)
7. All Time Favorite Book

That should be enough to get us started.

I think Jeannie was less prone to breakdowns in her powers than Samantha, who often needed Dr. Bombay to break a hex or get rid of some weird spots on her face. On the other hand, Jeannie was always being ordered back into her bottle by Tony Nelson. I don't think he played his cards quite as well as sophisticates like you or I would have.

"Where do you stand on Samantha vs. Jeannie for superpowers?"

I'd have to say Jeannie. She's older, been around the block a lot longer, you know, in that bottle and all forever. Although, personally, I though Sam was cuter, but then, her husband (see previous Brady Bunch post), Darrin was a dork, and even the second one could hold a candle to Master. And Larry Hagman eventually got the Dallas gig, so, definately, Jeannie. She was better at picking the winners. Sam wimped out too often with her mother and husband.

All Jeannie wanted was to be loved. Tony was a cruel, cruel master.

And Darrin couldn't get an account without Sam's help. Darrin was a wimp too. Was this the subtle beginnings of Women's Lib? Remember That Girl, In Color?

I thought Sam was cuter too. But Endora was a lot of baggage to haul around. Darrin definitely did not appreciate what he had. I would have liked to have seen Sam flirt more with Larry Tate -- I think he would have been susceptible, and it would have opened a nice sub-plot on the show.

Yeah, "That Girl" was I think the first single career-woman starring in a sitcom. But Sam was the opposite of a feminist -- she subordinated her powers to Darrin, for some stupid reason. She could have used them all she wanted if she were married to me. Fly to Rome for lunch? Wiggle the nose, Sam, and off we go.

Tony was a cruel master indeed. And to get to be called "Master" all the time. Man, that hardly ever happens to me. I think Major Healey would have been nicer to Jeannie. But I don't know for sure if he liked girls.

That Girl... Did she throw her hat up in the air at the begining of each show or was that only Mary Tyler Moore?

Larry Tate was a buffoon too. There were no good men on that show, they all were portrayed as idiots. At least Bellows was not quite an idiot as Tate. So, who do you think had better powers? Sam or Jeannie?

Now Roger got plenty of girls and yet always wanted Jeanie (I think to get more girls). If I had been Roger, I would maybe have loosened a few bolts on the centrifuge when Tony was doing G-force training.

I think "That Girl" (Ann Marie) also used to do the hat toss -- I think she was wearing white gloves, too. Donald used to yell at her a lot, but she could always butter him up.

And that is why I think Sam was less powerful than Jeannie. If I had those powers, boy oh boy oh boy...... Jeannie did what she did, got in trouble later, Sam did what she did to avoid getting in trouble.

That was MTM. That girl was with Marlo Thomas, Danny Thomas's daughter, liberals all of them, but this was way back when the libs were just comming out of there commie stage and trying to find a venue to hide it. I guess the democrat party fit that bill.
