Fourth bomber, 19, the boss
Sydney Morning Herald ^ | July 17, 2005 | By Peter Munro and Audrey Gillan in London

The 19-year-old suicide bomber responsible for the Kings Cross explosion, known as the "fourth man", is thought to have played a key co-ordinating role in the London bus and Tube terrorist atrocities that killed 55 people.

Anti-terrorist detectives now believe Jermaine Lindsay or Lindsay Jamal, who changed his name to Abdullah Shaheed Jamal when he converted to Islam, may have been the most senior of the four bombers.

Details about Jamal's role in the bombing came as Britain buried its first bombing victim - a beautiful young Muslim who bore the name of the religion in whose misguided service the terrorists struck 10 days ago.

The family of Shahara Islam, 20, described her as "an innocent and bloodstained martyr".

Pakistani authorities have questioned several students, teachers and administrators at one of two religious schools believed visited by a suspect in the London bombings.

Intelligence officials said agents had been dispatched to the Jamia Manzoorul Islam seminary in central Lahore, one of two religious schools allegedly visited by 22-year-old suspected bomber Shehzad Tanweer on a visit to Pakistan. AdvertisementAdvertisement

Asad Farooq, a spokesman for the school, said: "Our hands are clean. We are not involved in any such activities. We are simply running an education facility."

The British Government has declared war on extremist Muslim clerics who preach the "evil ideology" of terrorism and make martyrs of suicide bombers. Those found guilty of "endorsing or glorifying" terrorist attacks such as the July 7 London bombings could face prison under the raft of new anti-terrorism offences.

British Prime Minister Tony Blair will also hold talks with Muslim leaders on Tuesday on combating the local extremism, especially among Muslim youth, that helped to spawn the suicide bombers.

One of those men, Mohammad Sidique Khan, the 30-year-old Edgeware Road bomber who killed seven people, visited the Houses of Parliament in July last year as the guest of a Labour MP. It has also emerged that Tanweer, 22, who murdered seven in a blast on a train near Liverpool Street station, reportedly met a member of a group linked to al-Qaeda during a visit to Pakistan in 2003.

Police in Faisalabad said on Friday that four suspects had been detained in connection with the bombings.

Those arrested include the head of an Islamic religious school where Tanweer first made contact with al-Qaeda figures.

Jamal, a convert who was raised in Huddersfield, northern England, but born in Jamaica, is believed to have had the connections that made the terrorist operation possible.

It is known that the three other bombers travelled from Leeds to London via Luton just outside London. After they detonated their devices further bombs were found at Luton station in Jamal's red Fiat car.

Investigators believe there may be significance in the fact that the group travelled to meet Jamal in Luton rather than going directly to London.

Authorities are also trying to establish whether the devices left behind in Jamal's car were intended for other suicide bombers to use on this or on future missions.

Unconfirmed newspaper reports say Jamal also spent time at Brixton mosque in south London with Richard Reid, the Muslim convert jailed after trying to blow up an airliner with a bomb in his shoe in 2001.

A knowledgeable source said: "There is no doubt that he [Jamal] was a main player. He moved around a lot and seemed to have the contacts. But his movements themselves throw up a lot more questions. Piece by piece we are putting this together."

What would be the point for a suicide bomber to leave unused bombs in his car? I would double and triple-check whether he really died in the explosions.

Bug the mosques. Bug the Islamic schools. Find out what they are preaching and saying and if terrorist-supporting, move in, arrest, close down.

Does anyone have the name of the MP?

Tell it to a democrat, Farooq. They'll believe ANYTHING!

Maybe somebody else was to pick up the car to use the bomb material and failed to get the car before the police did.

Then that somebody else would be more senior person (hard to think of a 19yrs old as the boss) in the terror organization - and would probably be doing bomb distribution himself. It doesn't look like they have too many bombs to spare, for the bombings so far have been blessedly rare. If it was the car of the 19 yrs old, I would very much doubt that he got blown up, and would rather suspect that he went underground, hoping to retrieve and use the remaining bombs.

In a CBS-TV Interview taped in his own Tower 2 office in 1999, with Tower 1 standing tall behind him thru his office window, RICK RESCORLA calmly predicted his own future death at the hands of Muslim Fundamentalist Extremists.

On September 11, 2001 it all came too true:

For whose side?

Seems to me if he wasn't in the blast, he would have made it back to his car. It appears more logical that they were supposed to leave the bags on the trains and get out. They must not have seen a way to leave the bags inconspicuously and chose suicide or the bombs went off ahead of time.

Considering the bombs only had about 10 lbs of explosive in them, the younger inexperienced (now dead) leadership seems consistent.

The bombs could not go ahead of time all at the same time. And the perp may have had difficulty getting back to his car fast, as they shut down the transportation grid.

I bet the bombs went off ahead of time for the ones carrying the bombs but right on time for the leaders and the one(s) making the bombs.

"They must not have seen a way to leave the bags inconspicuously and chose suicide or the bombs went off ahead of time."

Or, they didn't KNOW they were on a suicide mission, maybe they believed all they were required to do is plant the devices and get away; but the mastermind, not wanting to be identified if they survived and were caught, set the timers much earlier than they believed. The fourth device failed to detonate at the set time, the fourth bomber was turned away by security, he got on the bus and THEN realized he was NOT in control of the timing mechanism, he going to die and panic set in, but it was too late...

Remember, 'suicide' car bombers in Iraq have been found with their arms chained to the wheel of the vehicle. They are all only too happy to kill the infidel, but not all of them want to forfeit their own lives. (No problem, they are going to paradise anyway, we just won't tell them! LOL!)

By the time the muslimes are found guilty of anything, it will be too late.

Deport them now, before it's too late.

Great minds work in sync. I was thinking the above just the other day. It would indeed fit in with how those fiends operate.

Hi Great Mind! I was reading in a Brit newspaper that the police were 'not yet prepared to call it a suicide bombing' I have no idea if they have changed their mind since, and don't expect a lot of announcements while the investiagtion is ongoing, but the trial of the accessories should be most interesting.

Suicide bomber is a misnomer. Since their mission is to kill others, they should be called homicide bombers.

Deport the aliens.
