A classified State Department memorandum central to a federal leak investigation contained information about CIA officer Valerie Plame in a paragraph marked "(S)" for secret, a clear indication that any Bush administration official who read it should have been aware the information was classified, according to current and former government officials.

Another thread going. AM, please nuke this thread.
They're a few paces behind the posse.
A paragraph she was in but not the star of.
...The Wall Street Journal reported Tuesday that the memo made it clear that information about Wilson's wife was sensitive and should not be shared....
....The description of Wilson's wife and her role in the Feb. 19, 2002, meeting at the CIA was considered "a footnote" in a background paragraph in the memo, according to an official who was aware of the process....
Man, these libs can't keep their story straight even in the SAME ARTICLE.
It's raining wishy-washy memos from State and CIA, with vague intimations as to the status of Plame-Wilson. Surprise, surprise.
We've moved on, so should you!
When you knuckleheads become US Prosecutors let us know!
Shhhh! Don't say her name. It's a secret.
So I guess this means that the memo could have been:
copied;
scanned & emailed;
stolen;
lost;
read over a shoulder;
or ALL of the above;
meaning perhaps a hundred people could have seen it and the Democrats still think this inplicates Rove and is the "smoking gun"?
I think THEY are the ones smoking something.
Let's see, isn't the State Department part of the Executive Branch. Can't the Preseident do some cost-cutting there? Afterall, the Constitution makes no mention of a State Department.
Who wants to bet that her clearance is secret and NOT her identity?
"Can't the Preseident do some cost-cutting there?"
Or some housecleaning. A hit dog will holler.
What does Powell have to do with it? Why would he help a guy who criticized his speech to the UN? More likely it was Greg Thielman acting on his own.
Is this new memo the one that was supposibly passed around on Air Force One in 2003 by Colin Powell?
. . .
In a July 6 opinion piece in the New York Times and in an interview with The Washington Post, he cited a secret mission he conducted in February 2002 for the CIA, when he determined there was no evidence that Iraq was seeking uranium for a nuclear weapons program in the African nation of Niger.
I'm confused now. Does the CIA's "secret" classification mean that it's OK to talk about it in an op-ed piece in the New York Times and in an interview with The Washington Post?
