Semi-News: Senator Kennedy’s Statement on the Nomination of John Roberts to U.S. Supreme Court
The Arizona Conservative ^ | July 22, 2005 | John Semmens

Posted on 07/23/2005 5:39:57 PM PDT by John Semmens

Every American ought to be asking some tough questions right now about whether Mr. Roberts is fit to serve on the highest court in the land.

Will he support seizing the property of average Americans so it can be transferred to powerful corporations?

Has he ever gotten blind drunk, had an adulterous affair, driven off a bridge, left his companion to drown and gotten away with it?

Is he willing to support judging people by the color of their skin rather than the content of their character?

Will he be able to see past the archaic words of the Constitution and create new rights and freedoms more suitable for the emerging global community?

Mr. Roberts must demonstrate that he meets my standards before he will get my vote.

I'm afraid Roberts will never meet Kennedy's standards. By all accounts, he's a decent driver, for one thing.

Has he ever successfully shielded assorted relatives and no-good nephews from rape and murder charges and other bothersome trivia?

Has he ever embarrassed the entire country by singing Sweet Rosie O'Grady while plastered blind at his nominating convention?

Wonder whether Senator Kennedy's phony neck brace "accessory" has been preserved in the National Archives so that schoolchildren of the future can gaze at it in wonderment at how a state such as Massachusetts that once produced decent men who were patriots and champions of liberty then degenerated and continued to send a hateful demagogue and criminal of Kennedy's stature to the United States Senate election after election after election...
