'Quick Strike' Moves Into Area Where Marines Were Killed

WASHINGTON, Aug. 5, 2005 – About 1,000 Iraqi security force soldiers and U.S. Marines from Regimental Combat Team 2 moved into the city of Haqliniyah, Iraq, and the surrounding area today as part of Operation Quick Strike. The operation began Aug. 3 with Iraqi soldiers and U.S. Marines positioning their units.

Coalition forces confirmed through gathered intelligence that terrorists are operating in these cities and surrounding areas.

Iraqi special operations forces this morning directed an air strike on terrorists hiding in buildings outside of Haqliniyah, about seven kilometers southwest of Haditha, where 20 Marines were killed in two widely reported attacks this week. Marine pilots attacked terrorists who were using these buildings to fire small arms at the Iraqi forces.

Elsewhere during the operation, while searching for evidence of terrorist activity, Iraqi soldiers and U.S. Marines came across two adjacent buildings with wires running between the structures. The wires were connected to numerous 155 mm artillery rounds scattered throughout both buildings. The two buildings were subsequently destroyed.

Tanks also fired on a building in Haqliniyah that terrorists were using to engage coalition forces with small-arms and rocket-propelled-grenade fire.

The intent of Operation Quick Strike is to interdict and disrupt terrorists' presence in the Haditha, Haqliniyah, and Barwanah areas, U.S. officials said. About 800 U.S. Marines and sailors and 180 Iraqi soldiers are participating in the operation.

In other news from Iraq, a 45-year-old Iraqi man died Aug. 4 from multiple organ failure as a result of gunshot injuries suffered while engaging coalition forces.

The detainee was evacuated to the 86th Combat Support Hospital on July 24 and underwent extensive surgery on his chest, arm and abdomen, officials said. He was transferred to the 344th Field Hospital in Baghdad on July 26, where he developed a serious tissue infection. Despite aggressive antibiotic therapy, the infection spread to the blood and eventually resulted in multi-organ failure and death, officials said.

The remains will be transferred to the family upon completion of an autopsy. This is standing procedure for all detainees who die while in custody of Multinational Force Iraq, officials said.

Also on Aug. 4, Iraqi security forces supported by coalition forces conducted a joint search for known terrorists in the Nasr area, just northwest of Nasiriyah. Iraqi and coalition forces detained 17 suspects and confiscated nine vehicles during the operation.

Elsewhere, Iraqi army soldiers detained three suspected terrorists after targeted searches in Mosul today. No injuries or damages were reported during the operations.

Terrorists attacked Iraqi police officers eating lunch near the market in Old Baqubah on Aug. 4 with small-arms fire. The officers returned fire and pursued their attackers, eventually catching two of them. The detainees were transported to a nearby jail for questioning.

People should read Belmont Club. Quickstrike appears to have been going on for about a week or two now, and the Marine deaths were part of the offensive.

Let's do a thousand more of those "quick strikes". I am tired of hearing of our soldiers dying like this. I hope that our boys root out every single one of those sickos!

FAE is better. Looks like a Nuke, acts like a Nuke, NONE of the bad side effects like residual radiation, and you get to legally claim you didn't use a NUKE.

Things are shaping up. Iraqi units are earning their pay. Some have for going on four months plus if one looks back in articles that featured Army and Marine officers and NCO's saying the Iraqi's units working with them had some good people in them. This shall continue. L/MSM's are ground to powder at this point, as they read the incoming, don't report it to the guilable masses, but know damn well things are much better then they can try to cover up with the occasional sensational one time lucky car bombs etc.. I am really beginning to form the idea there is no insurgency as has been depicted for a long time. I just got the funny feeling both Abu the Schmoos's goons and the remaining Baethist have little real control, and it is just a relative small number that manage to pull off the occasional surprise. The country should be under constant duress, hundreds of suicide attackes, car bombs, daily. And we should be seeing multiple platoon level insurgents attacking Iraqi and Coalition forces on a daily bases. That would be an active oppressive insurgency. I just don't see this happening. I think our military deliberately keeps the real numbers of terrorist/insurgents out of the hands of the press. I beat there have been well over 15,000 or more put in the grave at this point. There are just very small cells of them mostly north of Baghdad and in Al Anbar that manage to sometimes pull off some form of very low level attacks.

Am I wrong folks?

er .... OK ....This is the oddest way of saying he was shot and later died that I have ever read.

That could well be once we can turn things over to the new Iraqi army and they have a constitution so we can concentrate on slaying the hydra.

Notice how we have heard little in the LameStreamMedia about the Iraqi constitution will be ready but you've heard it here.

The left and that includes the press are COWARDS and want us to be defeated, and it all goes back to one reason ...(sigh! ok mind cue the left's proest crowd mantra sounds and cheers).. it's Bush's fault!

"Wow, Marine_Uncle, that just makes waaaay too much sense."

Actually I have been harping on this for at least half a year, in one degree or another. To many articles slip by that contain notes saying for instance, Abu is having a hard time getting new recruits to strap on bombs and blow kids up, etc..
We have had ariticles posted here and things found at say The Winds of Change and Fourth Rail, etc., that specifically quote captured terrorist admitting, Jihadist would make it to some safe house, wait for weeks on end doing nothing, because no one was around to give them directives. Finally Abu Musab A-Zarqawi or one of his top lieutenants would show up and tell the young goons to join in a suicide attack to blow up Iraqi citizens. These guys would say they did not come to Iraq to blow up muslims and some would return to their countries. A lot of this stuff simply goes un-reported in the L/MSM. In fact I yet once to hear this type of thing being mentioned. I obviously can't because it puts a totally new picture on the so called insurgency.

You betcha. They must not allow Americans and Europeans to let their minds dwell on the possibilites that the Iraqis are working together to hammer out the constitution by Aug 15th.
For that would as we know, indicate that the government is not ready to disolve, nor the country ready to go into a civil war. These prick* as usual carefully massage the incoming, then produce their propaganda. I keep saying the old KGB must be totally enviouse as how well the L/MSM can control public discourse and information. Leninn and Trosky would truly have been proud of the like of a Blather. And surely folks like Brian Williams before retiring for bed time, must kneel on their Leninist prayer rugs, and bow to a statue of Trosky. Then happily drift off to sleep thinking how well they once again hoodwinked the American masses.
