Rush Limbaugh: Curt Weldon On Fire (Rush's interview with Weldon)
RushLimbaugh.com ^ | 8/25/05 | Rush Limbaugh

RUSH: A couple of things here on Able Danger: "Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Arlen Specter plans to hold a hearing on the Able Danger allegations and the larger issue of information sharing between the Pentagon and the FBI." Fox News has confirmed this. "Able Danger, the code name for a military intelligence unit that apparently learned a year before the September 11th, 2001 terror attacks that lead hijacker Mohamed Atta and other terrorists were already in the United States." So looks like Jamie Gorelick may have found her way back into the news. Senate and House hearings apparently will take place here on all this. I don't want to jump the gun, here. I'm not going to get all excited about this. I don't want to jump the gun, but if this does happen it may signal the Republicans actually think they are the majority. It may signal the Republicans may think they actually can act like winners and look into this!

Curt Weldon. I spoke to Curt Weldon on Tuesday afternoon in an interview for the upcoming issue of the Limbaugh Letter. Folks, I have never had an interview like this. At some point, we're going to make some of this available. I have never talked to anybody, in any of these interviews, who was as fired up and passionate and angry as I have heard Curt Weldon. I'm afraid it's one of these interviews that the printed word, while powerful, is not going to do this justice. But we do have some audio sound bites from his appearance on Fox News this morning with E. D. Hill. She said, "It was in your book, Countdown to Terror that you brought up first the information about this organization. Are you surprised the Pentagon came out so quickly and said can't find anything to back this up?"

WELDON: I actually talked to the Pentagon spokesman yesterday, Larry Darita, and he was backpedaling left and right and he said, "Congressman, that's not what I said. Uh, I was misquoted by the media, uh, and we are continuing..." I said, "Larry, don't ever go on national TV again and say what you said, when I know that Steve Cambone is right now going through four boxes of materials. You said there was no information. You have four boxes of materials that were marked subpoenaed." E.D., there's something very sinister that's going on here that really troubles me.

RUSH: Multiply that by two and you'll get an idea how he sounded during his conversation with me -- and that's pretty fired up there. So E.D. Hill said, "Why do they want to keep it secret at the Pentagon?"

WELDON: The 9/11 Commission is trying to spin this because they're embarrassed at what's coming out. In two weeks with two staffers, I've uncovered more in this regard than they did with 80 staffers and $15 million of taxpayers' money! This information will ultimately end up in a hearing. Senator Specter is preparing a hearing in the judiciary committee. I talked to Speaker Hastert yesterday on the House side. We will bring people in under oath, and they will swear and they will answer the questions -- and E. D., when this is over?

HILL: Mmm-hmm?

WELDON: -- the 9/11 Commission is going to have egg all over their face.

RUSH: Amen!

Good, because that's what we need!

I didn't get to hear this on Rush's show today, I'm glad he posted it.

Why do they want to keep it secret at the Pentagon?

That's what I want to know.

I wonder if the same lawyers are still there.

If Arlen Specter is holding hearings you can forget anyone getting to the bottom of anything. Might as well have Gorelick hold them.

Good find- I didn't hear this segment, but I did hear him take a call from a woman who asked him how far he thought Able Danger would go. His response regarding the political class of DC, and the possibility that this could destabilize the ugly underbelly of the good ol' boy network, was pretty compelling.

Also, scaniaboy posted some good info from German source last night which tended to suggest a larger scandal than we may be anticipating.

Since you're apparently a 24/7 member, you may want to look for the transcript of that above mentioned call. Rush's response was sobering.

Do you have a link?

I'm so damn sick of seeing stories just "drop off the radar" (Rathergate, Trousergate, Chinagate, Marc Rich, etc.), I really want the truth about Able Danger to come out. 3000 lives were lost and America's psyche was nearly smashed, this cannot just disappear.

Oh yea of little faith! We have SEEN the abilities of Senator "Magic bullet" Specter before have we not? He can come up with a theory to explain away all known laws of physics and SELL it!

Whom else would you WANT to cover up for - opps! - I mean investigate the 911 commission!

One of the biggest mistakes President Bush ever made was helping this scumbag get re-elected.

Right you are. The Clintons hire thug P.I.s like the notorious "Pelican" (Anthony Pellicano, currently in jail), have FBI and dirt files, and use Larry Flynt and their media connections to assassinate their critics' characters.

Sweet. I would settle for Secretary of Defense if Rummy ever wants to retire to chase Mrs. Rummy around all day.

The tinfoil hat side of me thinks that the Administration purposely gave the 9/11 Commission the rope to hang themselves, and that they waited until....oh...there was a Supreme Court nomination or mid-term election coming up. ;^)
