They are talking about tourists. People who were there ended up stranded when airlines pulled out early and cancelled flights. Buses left and rental cars went early, none left.

Sorry you got flamed Cobra64.I believe that some just expected that everyone knew that people some were truly stranded. There just was no way to leave.

Yeah... what part of MANDATORY EVACUATION didn't they understand?

It's one thing to make it mandatory but if there's just no way to leave, what were they to do?

I read a thread last night where some Freepers had said they saw video or pics of brand new school buses. Underwater. Why didn't officials put people on those buses and get them out? They'd have saved their buses and people.

Before the hurricane hit there were a lot of people, interviewed on TV and broadcast over here in Europe, saying they were _choosing_ to stay and rough it out. For these folks I have less sympathy than for the sick and elderly, that's for sure.
