Legal Expert-Blanco was legally in charge of Disaster Relief
Fox News | Sat 9-10-05 | ME

Posted on 09/10/2005 6:27:25 AM PDT by MNJohnnie

Just watched a legal expert on Fox go thru the disaster event by event. Based on the Law Gov Blanco is legally liable. If lawsuits are filed, there is no way she can duck it. In addition, when Bush went went down there, he offered her immediate deployment of Reg Army troops, she told both him and Nagel that she "needed 24 hours" to decide. This is DC politics. As everyone from Bush to Clinton to Carter learned, Washington Politics are a whole lot tougher then local politics. Blanco is toast. EVEN if the National Dems get the "Independent Commission" there is no way to rescue her based on the Law. I suspect that is why Mayor Nagel has been so quiet. He found out last Fri just who was holding the knife in his back, and it wasn't Bush

Just what is the "Law" (capital L)? I didn't realize they made brushes that broad to paint with.

It's one thing to be too dumb to know what to do and another to wilfully refuse to do what you are supposed to do.

The real crime is that she was and continues to play politics with this tragedy rather than honestly trying to help people. The dems automatically assume this of Bush because it is they who ALWAYS put political interests ahead of the good of the people. And because that's the way they think first off, they think the pubbies do too. They just don't understand that there are some in this world who do things because they're the right things to do, not "what impact will that have on me politically?". I think that's the primary difference between the actions of the dems and those of the pubbies.

And the first thing out of the dems' mouths is to make public accusations against Bush. They always look before they leap, jump to conclusions before they get their facts. Will the sheeple wake up for the 2006 elections? Honestly, I doubt it. There are too many people who have been taught by liberal-minded teachers and who are beneficiaries of the "do it for me" mentality, the "government will protect us, we don't need weapons for self-defense" attitudes.

It just torques me off the way the masses are so ignorant and self-serving.

Our job is not to sit and criticize, because that doesn't get anything but the press reporting the most extreme actions, because that's what draws listeners. The thing we need to do is accept who our opposition is, and figure out ways to finesse them so we can get back some responsible leadership.

[Prior to assuming office,] Governor Blanco completed two terms as Lieutenant Governor. As the state’s second-highest official, she supervised the Department of Culture, Recreation and Tourism. Under her leadership, tourism in Louisiana increased by 41 percent. This growth led to a $2.5 billion increase in the tourism industry’s economic contribution to the state and the creation of 121,000 new tourism-related jobs. Any wonder why she's a disaster? Her expertise was tourism. And don't forget that Blanco just won her job. Betcha $100 that all her aides are politicos themselves, not experienced leaders.

She didn't want anyone to see who benefitted from all the ca$ino construction on her watch. That's why she delayed. No one is THAT stupid and incompetent.

think Nagin got the message after he made his now infamous radio address and Bush had a private meeting with him afterward. I'd have loved to have been a fly on that wall. Bush probably told him that his "eat, drink and be merry, for tomorrow we die" philosophy has come full circle. Guess what, Nagin--it's "tomorrow

Actually Bush met with both Nagel and Blanco at the same time. It was in front of Nagel that Bush said the Gov was asking him for 24 hours to decide, He had offered immedeate deployment of troops and she "needed 24 hours"

They stay willingly believing the master's promises and are scared to leave based on the race-baiting poverty pimps statements.

So, how do we educate them any differently?

Even Chris Matthews on the Today show this morning said that President Bush did a better job last week than he did the first week and he will be perceived to have done a better job this coming week. He also said that the AP poll was based on the first week. Next week's poll the President will bounce back.

Thank God the truth is starting to come out and the libs are having to back track.

I sent Fox 'n' Friends a complimentary e-mail about running that piece.

Funny, because the piece ran just after I suggested they seek out "the plan" and read it, to find out who is responsible. THis lawyer comes on, and I was gobsmacked at the direct and factual accounting of responsibility.

It's too bad that the facts of matter are buried in a sea of MSM lies. The honesty-piece is a drop in the bucket. As for the evacuation of the city of NOLA, one need look no father than this ...

Conduct of an actual evacuation will be the responsibility of the Mayor of New Orleans in coordination with the Director of the Office of Emergency Preparedness, and the OEP Shelter Coordinator.

...

The lead agency responsible for coordinating recovery operations following a natural or man made disaster is the Office of Emergency Preparedness.

Did you forget about ALL of the ABOVE so soon? I hope you're being sarcasitic, and not daring to repeat the Gov.

At least you "get it".

It sickens me the way the sheeple listen to those pied pipers with false promises.

Absolutely. The left (including the MSM) saw this immediately as an opportunity to attack the President (FEMA was responding as it always does.....legally).

They didn't care about the facts..........they never do...........but more importantly, they didn't care about saving the people.

They have never sunk so low.

They will cover Blanco, but at their own peril. The American people don't like playing politics, but when the cost is in human lives, they will not let it pass by......

If there were a single intelligent Dem, they would be demanding Blanco's resignation........ yesterday.

If the body count doesn't register, it may be hopeless.

The press exists as a sort of voice of the mob that effectively prevents any leadership. Granted, it puts its own words and liberal opinions in the mouth of the mob - had press coverage had a different slant, the mob would be busy screaming different slogans today, but these slogans would in any case all have been orchestrated by the press.

Leadership is possible if a leader jumps up right away and starts to leave, but once the press has got the mob machine up and running, it's all over.

Call me paranoid but I think that Mayor Moonbat and Gov. Dingbat are already carving up the old New Orleans maps and taking "bids" on development in the new New Orleans.

LAW as in the Rule of LAW? However, I misunderstood what the expert was saying. That was my mistake in understanding, not the Fox News experts

As BCrago66; Labyrinthos; lOKKI pointed out in several earlier posts on this thread; Generally speaking (in my experience) government officials are protected from personal lawsuits regarding the performance of their official duties.

I guess what I meant to say is Legal Authority?, Command and Control? Direction of? Legal Responsibility for? I will try to post the transcript later, if Fox has a transcription service, so we have something better then my weak memory to work with. My apologies for being imprecise with my language.
