Janice Rogers Brown would be an excellent pick. I do hope the President chooses her.
They (wisely) put out this disinformation before, and then to everyone's surprise Roberts was nominated. My only fear is that Pres. Bush will nominate a 'moderate' to avoid a bloody war with the Senate liberals and RINOs.
he should find a hispanic black lesbian originalist, let's see the dumocrats find fault with that.
Consuelo M. Callahan .........PLEASE....NOOOOOOOOO....saw something where she was backed/endorsed by Planned Parenthood.
there are gay conservatives, you just never hear about them because the MSM doesn't want you to know that they exist.
BTTT!
I know them, and I support them. A good idea for replacing a liberal (Stevens or Ginsburg).
Edith Jones is the best woman for nomination. Whether Bush has the gumption to pull the trigger is the question.
Good ol' Specter. Just when I think the man can't be a bigger idiot he proves me wrong....
"The president respects Senator Specter and his opinions."
Doesn't sound like a man who's loaded for bear, does it?
If in fact Bush is excluding white males, he is playing the liberals' game. But it wouldn't be the first time.
A Conservative "minority" strict constructionist female. Kick them in the teeth W. We have been too nice too long.
Amazing how some Conservatives cannot see thur the polite Washington PR games. This is Washington's form of someone you barely know asking "how ya doin". They don't really mean it but they all say this kind of crap. Makes the President "look above politics". I am not willing to declare defeat before the battle is even joined.
"Makes the president look above politics."
Yes, that's right. And that's one reason I don't like it.
The president is as involved in politics as anyone, and should be. Politics simply means fighting for what you believe in. And this quote makes it sound like he's not serious when Specter bytch-slaps him on an extremely important issue, and when he's suffering politically, no less.
I agree, there are times when you make meaningless friendly noises. This is not one of them, not with Specter, not with the krap he pulled the other day.
I heard that too and love the idea...
I like the notion someone mentioned that Robert Bork be recess appointed if hearings aren't held immediately or until the Senators could get off their collective rears and confirm a new justice.
Applying affirmative action?
Focusing on diversity.
Pandering?
Which is it and how is this any different than the liberals?
The explanation is that Specter is a leftist, has always been a leftist, has trembled as his life's work of seizing power therough the courts has been threatened again and again by the election of Republican presidents, and now is ready to die in the last ditch of keeping "balance" on the Supreme Court.
IOW, he will vote against any constitutionalist nominee, and therefore the Judiciary Committee is tied 9-9 assuming no other Republicans defect (a bad assumption, IMO), and therefore the Senate will reject any such nominee.
How many shots were there in Dallas, anyway, Arlen?
Do you really think that the votes are determined by the hearings?
