The story seemed too righteous to be true. Man kills four people. Man takes hostage and threatens to kill her. Hostage uses faith and the power of prayer to win her release and achieve a peaceful ending to a hopelessly violent situation.
Only Ashley Smith, the Atlanta kidnap victim who captivated a nation with a stirring story of spiritual victory over physical adversity, left out one crucial detail.

This isn't a fair characterization. She gave him meth to begin with and knew immediately that it was wrong. So she then got out The Purpose-Driven Life and read it to him, suggesting that they both could use the truths within. Her life changed as a result.
She was probaly SKITZIN all those cops.
What was the sex part?
What...she did the nasty with the guy too?
That's a pretty rough editorial, IMHO.
Is that kind of like when college kids get high and think they've discovered the meaning of life by staring at a lava lamp? ;)
sarc off
David was an adulterer and de-facto murdered a man.
Soloman --- where to begin? Pagan, multiple wives, whatnot!
Lot --- sex with a daughter (I think)
Noah --- got drunk and had some sort of issue with his son
All sorts of idiots in Chronicles/Kings.
Peter --- where to begin?
Paul -- effectively the grand high executioner of early Christians
I personally think God chooses flawed people on purpose as a demonstartion of His power.
Unfreakinbelievable.
Hey, I saw her interview the other day. I think she is genuine. Just because someone had a drug problem doesn;t mean she can't get over it. She herself said that the hostage situation got her to see the light. How many more lives did she save by getting this scum off the streets.Give this gal a break, she is not the evil one in the article.
"How I saved my life through God, meth, and sex"
Where does it say she had sex with him? When you make stuff up to use against a person, it becomes a smear.
Owl_Eagle(If what I just wrote makes you sad or angry,
That goes with the meth. :)
Bingo.
You're right - very unfair. The girl never claimed to be an angel. And, the best part is she hasn't touched drugs since.
I still find it highly suspicious that when he emerged from her new apartment the next day, he was wearing a change of clothes. Where did he get clothes that fit him perfectly? Also, she followed him in HER car when he went to abandon the stolen truck. Why didn't she call 911 at that time?? I'd like to hear the responses from Atlanta's finest to those questions.
Um, no, it's nothing like that.
It would be ok if she were a conservative running for political office. Happens all the time.
And what about "the seriousness of the charge"? Doesn't that matter?
