I've found Craigslist to be a great, fast, free way to get rid of spare odds & ends by selling to local buyers.
I couldn't agree less with their "progressive" politics, but as long as the suckers are giving away something for free, I'll take it.
Craigslist is a great resource as long as you take into account the highly variable reliability of those who use it.
Boo freakin' hoo.
It would be interesting to see a website devoted to listing observations about employers or businesses in a certain market. Prospective employees could check to see if others had posted any information about the business, and how reputable they were. They could also check beyond the HR brochure and see some of the real, behind-the-scene employment practices. Sure, it could be abused, and there would be a concern about libel, but it could be useful to job applicants.
God bless Craigslist: sucking the life out of the evil LA Slimes, NY Slimes, Washington Compost, etc.
Then I got to thinking, what sort of woman agrees to meet someone she met on-line in a bar like this? Yikes.
Great post! Bookmarked for later read.
I've used it a few times over the last few years. It's ok for certain things. Finding or renting out an apartment, for example. Stuff you would do through the newspaper otherwise. But it has its limitations, that's for sure. The newspaper or other online sites are still the better places to find a job, for instance. But I still visit it once in a while.
Interesting article on Craigslist.
The latter comments on the journalism angle has implications for FR and conservative media. The conservative media needs a 'direct source' press agency to handle hard news that doesnt go through the AP/AFP/Reuters filter. Looks like the leftie techie alt media will beat conservatives to the punch there.
They're dinosaurs.
I bought a car locally off of craigs list. humorous political/social demographics, however.
