TAMARAC, Fla. - A Walgreens employee allegedly stabbed a co-worker in an argument over who could microwave her soup first, authorities said.
Both women wanted to use the microwave in the employee break room Wednesday afternoon, according to the Broward County Sheriff's Office.
While they were fighting over who could use the microwave first, Mellesia Grant grabbed a large kitchen knife off the counter and stabbed Merloze Tilme in the abdomen, the sheriff's office said.
"They didn't get along to begin with. Who could use the microwave first became a major issue," Broward County Sheriff's Office spokesman Jim Leljedal said.
The two women then wrestled for the knife, each cutting their hands, before the store manager could stop the fight, Leljedal said.
Tilme, 20, was hospitalized early Friday in good condition, officials said.
Grant, 23, of North Lauderdale was charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon after being treated at a hospital for her wounds, officials said. She was being held on $50,000 bond

Obviously Walgreen's fault for not providing a sit-down lunch with uniformed waiters bringing the soup. Civil lawsuit to follow.

I'm just surprised there are two people in Broward County who know how to operate a microwave.

Ahhhh, I remember fondly those days, before retirement, when we'd all fight for the microwave.

I know, let's put the women in charge of government, that way, there will be no more wars and everyone will "just get along."
Obviously people who agree that women desire peace and harmony, have never had three teenage daughters.
Boys are very physically competive but if one wants to see some real blood, watch a real fight between two cats (er, ladies.)

Having seen and heard what goes on in the kitchens at the firm where I work (especially when the broadcast e-mail "Food in 43 Kitchen" goes out to everyone on 10 floors), I'm really amazed they didn't actually pull guns on one another. The biggest item of course being the concept of "theft", which one in 100 appear to have even heatd of, much less been warned against.
