The Battle Over Gay Teens

The Battle Over Gay Teens What happens when you come out as a kid? How gay youths are challenging the right--and the left

In May, David Steward, a former president of TV Guide, and his partner Pierre Friedrichs, a caterer, hosted an uncomfortably crowded cocktail party at their Manhattan apartment. It was a typical gay fund raiser--there were lemony vodka drinks with mint sprigs; there were gift bags with Calvin Klein sunglasses; Friedrichs prepared little blackened-tuna-with-mango-chutney hors d'oeuvres that were served by uniformed waiters. Billionaire philanthropist Edgar Bronfman Sr. was there; David Mixner, a gay activist and longtime friend of Bill Clinton's, was holding court with Jason Moore, director of the musical Avenue Q.

But the odd thing was that the gay (and gay-friendly) élite had gathered to raise money not for one of its established charities--the Human Rights Campaign, say, or the Democratic National Committee--but for an obscure organization that has quietly become one of the fastest-growing gay groups in the nation, the Point Foundation. Launched in 2001, Point gives lavish (often full-ride) scholarships to gay students. It is one of the few national groups conceived explicitly to help gay kids, and it is a leading example of how the gay movement is responding to the emergence this decade of hundreds of thousands of openly gay youths.

I haven't read the whole thing, but it's clear the the writer is supportive of the gay lifestyle. Still, the article is not too harsh on Exodus and other organizations trying to 'straighten' out gays.

I still get frustrated by the lack of discussion in these articles about the clear health risks of homosexuality. At least this article mentions the higher suicide rate of gay teens.

It's very disturbing to me how mainstream the push has become to move young kids into homosexuality.

Ah, come on. They were serving "lemony vodka drinks with mint sprigs" and "little blackened-tuna-with-mango-chutney hors d'oeuvres." Alcohol in moderation, vitamin C, healthy fat from deepwater fish... surely enough health benefits there to offset taking it up the rear, don't you think?

A scholarship just for queer kids? Under the laws of many states, that is a clear case of "discrimination based on sexual orientation." The same way that blacks have used the law to break open "whites only" scholarships, students who are heterosexual (even if inactively so) should be able to crack this discriminatory scholarship program like a rotten nut.

I look forward to that case being filed, and won. Somehow, I don't think the ACLU will take the case. After all, some people's rights are "more equal" than other people's rights.

Gay people are actually wealthier than non-gay people, on average. I have no idea why they need some sort of assistance, since this assistance wasn't available or needed while gay people were becoming more successful, on average.

The sex positive agenda wants everyone sexually active at every age with no moral judgments regarding age, sex, martial status, relation, number, or species of partner(s). The homosexual agenda is a battering ram to society's morals and laws for the sex positive agenda.

The talk of "AIDS education" has ushered condoms into schools forever surrendering the argument regarding "teen sex". Now it is not "if" it is "when". The Sex Positive agenda opposes abstinence, not because it doesn't work but because it is an "unhealthy" suppression of desires. Same as their stance against holding off on homosexual lust.

Well, there are old queens. It's not like homosexuality is like having Ebola.

Congressman BillyBob,

I couldn't agree more. I too look forward to this case, and will personally donate to this legal fund!

>> it is a leading example of how the gay movement is responding to the emergence this decade of hundreds of thousands of openly gay youths.

There are more and more "gay" teens every year because the schools have more and more queer teachers indoctrinating confused prepubescent children every year.

Wait to see the backlash when a generation of heterosexual queers realizes they were manipulated into committing acts of perversion while they were still too young to even consider sexual orientation.

Homosexual Agenda Ping.

Yes, the new target in the "gay" assault against traditional, universal moral values - teenagers. Which includes those not yet teenagers. Encouraging young children to be brainwashed and manipulated into thinking that "I'm gay". And of course, if they're "gay", they can never change. No wonder "gay" teenagers are more depressed, attempt suicide more often, have more drug and alcohol problems, more acting out, do worse in school, more STDs, more promiscuity, and so on.

Let them know the truth - that they DON'T have to be "gay".

Freepmail me and DirtyHarryY2K if you want on/off this pinglist.

Good point.

The fact that most heteros have compromised their sexual integrity is one of the main reasons many of us don't feel that we can speak out against the gay agenda.

I don't doubt that many gays live long lives. But I've seen enough statistics to know that the mortality rates are much higher for gays.

It's very disturbing to me how mainstream the push has become to move young kids into homosexuality

Not just homosexuality, but sexuality period.

The degenerate entertainment industry, which is the leading force in creating American popular culture, has over-sexualized kids culture to the saturation point and beyond. The vast majority of the sewage that passes for movies, television shows and music emitted by Hollyweird and absorbed by teenagers and younger relies (whether or not Hollyweird acknowledges they are targeting this audience), to varying degrees, on sexual themes.

For a person of intelligence, the modern television sitcom is simply unwatchable. The "humor" consists of almost nothing but sexual innuendo. It is a case of dumbed-down writers writing for a dumbed-down audience, which is getting dumber by the minute. It would be impossible for the television industry to produce sitcoms like those of forty years ago because today's writers are incapable of the necessary imagination. And it's not as if it takes any effort to market sexually-laden material to teenagers - hormones, if nothing else, will draw them to it.

For a huge portion of American kids, the popular culture created by the entertainment industry is the dominant influence shaping their attitudes and behavior. It is nearly hopeless to convince the vast majority of teenagers to delay sexual activity until at least they are out of high school. Even if conservatives were successful in changing the "sexual health" program in the government schools to a pro-abstinence message, it would make little difference. It's like using a thimble to bail out a sinking ship.

And leading the effort in Hollyweird and the MSM in promoting kids' sexuality are the homosexuals. They have thoroughly infiltrated the industry and miss no opportunity to promote their perversion. Deep down, in that bit of conscience that has not yet been seared by the hot iron, they know their behavior is wrong, but the more they can lead others down the same sad path the easier it is for them to silence that last little bit of their own conscience.
