NEWARK, N.J. - A Tenafly councilman faces numerous drug charges after a traffic stop in Newark.

Jeffrey Romano, 43, was arrested Wednesday by members of the Essex County Narcotics Task Force. Authorities said they found 40 glassine envelopes in Romano's possession, each containing a powdery substance believed to be heroin.

County Prosecutor Paula T. Dow said the officers stopped Romano's vehicle after they observed "narcotics activity" in the area of Bradley Court, a public housing complex in Newark.

"Incumbents Michael Lattif and Jeffery Romano, both Democrats, retained two council seats Tuesday, keeping the council split with three Democrats and three Republicans."

"Romano said the borough would save substantially if it collected its own trash."

LOL

actually, he's a councilman from Bergen County, NJ, one of the richest counties in the USA. Most often, the police pull over white people (racial profiling) when they see them in what is usually very-black or high-crime neighborhoods. When white people are seen in these neighborhoods, 99% of the time they are up to no good, usually buying drugs.

He was such an easy mark being white and driving a corvette, even if the driver was black, he would have been pulled over since most blacks who live in the projects do not ordinarily drive expensive cars like corvettes, unless they are stolen from rich white people from Bergen County : )
