Still, there are those thorny issues that make the Republican Party a tough sell for many Jews: opposition to abortion and stem-cell research, efforts to weaken church/state separation and the conflict in Iraq.Many Republican supporters of Israel see support of the Jewish state as an explicitly religious position, which is why they hold it. Why do non-religious Jews support Israel anyway?
And since when has the war in Iraq become a "chr*stian right" thing that makes Jews uncomfortable? Someone should tell this to Pat Buchanan.
