U.S Senate Restores Gorelick Wall (Tell GOP Yellow Bellied Saps You'll Never Re-elect Them Alert)

RUSH: The 16 provisions of the Patriot Act that go by the wayside since the Patriot Act was -- it technically wasn't voted down (story). There was a filibuster attempt. The Patriot Act itself never came up to a vote. They had a cloture vote to try to kill a filibuster. They couldn't get 60. (Vote total) They got 52.

So we're not going to vote on the Patriot Act, which is the same thing as voting against it. A lot of really yellow-bellied Republicans joined this effort, aided in no small part by this bogus New York Times story today. Schumer and Durbin cited this story in the New York Times about the NSA spying on Americans as a reason they couldn't vote for this anymore, and we'll look at McCain's definition of torture as spelled out for us by Max Boot. He's a columnist at the Los Angeles Times. But here, let me get started with the Patriot Act just so you know what's up to speed.

Sixteen provisions of the USA Patriot Act expire December 31st, now, and I'll just give you some of them:

"Section 203(b) permits the sharing of grand jury information that involves foreign intelligence or counter-intelligence with federal law enforcement intelligence protective immigration, national defense or national security officials."

In other words, that is a part of the Patriot Act that goes away. Does that sound familiar? You know what just get's re-erected? The Gorelick wall! The same thing that prevented us from being able to "connect the dots" prior to 9/11 goes back into effect on January 1st, because that provision's dead, the provision that permits the sharing of grand jury information that involves foreign intelligence or counter-intelligence with federal law enforcement, federal intelligence, protective immigration, national defense or national security officials. That's gone. So now anything learned by one agency can't be shared with another. Thanks to the Gorelick wall. It's back.

"Section 206 allows federal officials to issue roving John Doe wiretaps for spy and anti-terrorism investigations."

That's gone.

"Section 207 increases the amount of time that federal officials may watch people they suspect are spies or terrorists."

That's gone.

"Section 209 permits the seizure of voice mail messages under a warrant."

That's gone.

"Section 212 permits Internet service providers and other electronic communications and remote computing service providers to hand over records and e-mails to federal officials in emergency situations."

That's gone.

"Section 215 authorizes federal officials to obtain tangible items like business records, including those from libraries and bookstores, for foreign intelligence and international terrorism investigations."

That is gone.

"Section 217 makes it lawful to intercept the wire or electronic communication of a computer hacker or intruder in certain circumstances."

Computer hackers will now be, once again, protected because that provision is gone.

"Section 220 provides for nationwide service of search warrants for electronic evidence."

That's gone.

"Section 225 amends FISA," this is the court, "to prohibit lawsuits against people or companies that provide information to federal officials for a terrorism investigation."

That's gone.

So the Patriot Act has essentially been killed and we're going to go back to the same intel conditions that existed prior to 9/11, thanks to the Democrats in the Senate and a few sap Republicans -- and we are taking names and we know who they are and if any of these people think that this is the kind of thing that's going to get them reelected, they have another thing coming.

The Democrats and GOP yellow bellied saps voted to kill the Patriot Act and restore the Gorelick Wall. Which means another 9/11 attack could be launched on this country because our intelligence agencies are kept in the dark and prevented from connecting the dots. We have to make sure these people are never re-elected - and that McCain - who wrote an Al Qaeda Bill Of Rights - never becomes President. These people sold out our country's national security for short-term political gain. We will not forget next November and we will remember who put America in peril again.

We've learned nothing from 9/11.

Yep, I have had it with the Senate - It is much more of an obstruction and a house of corruption/Pork Barrel Politics than an effective governing body. First step in reform should be scrapping all of these 'Insider' Senate Rules, foremost among which is the Filibuster process.

But gee, I thought the 9/11 commission was complaining that President Bush did not have good intelligence before 9/11, and that his admin was not moving quickly enough to implement all their suggestions for improvement. how does shutting down the Patriot Act comply with the lordhighpriests and preistess of the hallowed 9//11 commission?

Another step closer to the end of America. I'm seriously afraid with all the RATS and libs that we can not last much longer.

I had the same thought, but to actually say it is depressing. I agree with you.

The Al-Quida representatives in the U.S. Senate are alive and destroying our country. They must be flushed from office in their next reelection bid, as you would flush a toilet!

Between this and the McCain terrorists bill of rights, we're watching a unilateral disarmament of the United States in the WOT. This is making me sick.

I just watched Sununnu pull out the time worn Ben Franklin quote, those that will give up some of their freedom for security deserve neither. Must be the 20th time I've heard it this week. Ben Franklin didn't have to worry about a lone lunatic able to kill thousands of people in a heartbeat.

And what makes me laugh is the same people spouting this quote will vote to take our guns away in a New York minute in the interests of 'security'. Isn't gun ownership a liberty guaranteed in the Bill of Rights? The fact of the matter is, they don't care about liberty or security. They care about political power. In their minds it must be better to be blown up than to have the government be able to check, with probably cause, what books they are buying at Barnes and Noble.

It's scary to have these people 'on our side'. They're going to get a bunch of us killed with their stupidity. And one thing you can bet on, they won't be standing up then and saying 'sorry, my bad'. They'll be pointing all fingers at Bush, as soon as their hands stop shaking enough to do.

It's time for more towel heads to blow up humans and destroy the economy in order to get the attention of the ruling elite. They can count my vote G.O.N.E.!

Our guard is down and, oh yeah, if we catch anyone they are treated better than Marines in boot camp.

WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON? The politicians are out of control!!!!!

All I can say is- TEHY BETTER HOPE ANOTHER 9/11 DOESN'T OCCUR WHILE THEY ARE STALLING THE PATRIOT ACT!!!!

If it does, they will be held accountable and may be literally tarred and feathered!

We need a list of those who voted to reinstate the WALL, so we can be sure we do not re-elect them.

These people are so afraid that they will get caught taking their bribes that is the reason they are against it.

And when another attack happens, they'll blame the president. Whose hands they've tied.

The president should take to the airwaves tonight and tell people that as of 12/31, intelligence agencies cannot talk to each other. Again. Because of an obstructionist Congress.

The Arizona People's Republic today is trumpeting that McCain's Al Qaeda Bill Of Rights will send him on his way to the White House. Well, he'll have to get there without this Republican's vote.

"We've learned nothing from 9/11."

May I rephrase your statement. Citizens have learned from 9/11. Politicians are up to their usual games of destroying this country for the good of themselves and third world countries.

What will it take to overthrow these out of control a$$holeS?
