IMO, Michael Ramirez is one of the finest if not the best conservative cartoonist in America. The Los Angeles Times fired him this month. Today is his last day. I thought those who hadn't already seen some of his work would appreciate seeing it now. The link is for some of his recent work. Hopefully, we won't be deprived of his future work for long.

The tolerant left has spoken. Do and think as we do or be fired. It is for your own good.

another blunder by the LA TIMES and another 10% decline in circulation for 2006 (my prediction).

And guess what, the LA PRAVDA is going to raise ad rates by almost 6% for 2006. Hmmm, less circulation and higher ad fees??? That sounds like a winning plan!

Wish he was in my local paper, then I would not have stopped it..Print media is dying and none too soon. Lets hope he can continue on more modern forum - FOX could have a great show just giving us the political cartoons of the week _fair and balanced of course..LOL

It's the paper's loss. Thanks to the internet, it's not like their no longer carrying his work is going to help their cause.

Well Ramirez was the only reason I went to the op-ed section of the Times online.
I cancelled my subscription years ago.
Max Boot is there but that's it.
So much for "balance!" LOL

Was it a single cartoon that caused him to be fired, or his generally conservative approach? Probably both. But was there a proverbial straw that broke the ass's back?

Thanks.

"Maybe he should come down south."

Ya know, Ramirez got his start in the South at the Memphis Commercial Appeal before going to the LAT.

We're hoping the Orange County Register picks him up.

As I understand it the slimes were firing several folks to cut big payrolls. The list included a favorite of the left, a hyper liberal psycho Bush hater columnist who had been spewing Moveon.ORG crap since before Michael Moore was born, so they had to fire someone conservative as well. Ramirez was the only conservative they let within a thousand yards of their editorial pages on a regular basis so he got the axe.

"But was there a proverbial straw that broke the ass's back?"

The Times has fired many employees.
Their subscriptions are down, down, down...

Ya know they fired Bob Scheer this month too...
You know Scheer, that "beacon of conservatism!"
Streisand like to have had a cow when they did that!!!LOL

Ramirez is syndicated by Copley News Service. I'm betting he'll still be available.

His page at Copley is located at:

You can understand why the Times if firing him. I'm sure he'll get picked up elsewhere, though.
