Who's Going To CPAC ?
CPAC ^ | 01/01/06 | RonPaulLives

Posted on 01/01/2006 6:57:11 AM PST by RonPaulLives

I apologize in advance if this is a "vanity" thread; I have started fewer than a handful of threads in my several years here, but I couldn't find an existing thread on the CPAC conference next month. At this time last year, there were several threads about last year's conference. If there is a thread already, then please direct me to it. Even the CPAC website still says that "The agenda for CPAC 2006 will be posted in December."

Who is going to CPAC this year? Beyond those listed as "invited" speakers, is anyone confirmed for this year? What freepers are going? Where are the good deals? Inquiring minds want to know, or at least this one. Thanks.

I last checked cpac.org a couple of days ago and they had a schedule effective Dec 20. Gov Rick Perry is confirmed for the first day, and Ann Coulter is to speak on Friday afternoon. I hope she does a book signing too.

I am registered and plan to go but I hope they will somehow limit attendance so everyone can fit in those meeting rooms. I was annoyed the last several years that the Crystal Gateway Marriott and the Ronald Reagan Center really could not handle the thousands of people who turned out. In fact the last couple of years I couldn't get in to hear Ann. :( I thought of skipping the conference this year but when I found out it would be back at the Omni Shoreham hotel I wanted to go at least once more since that was a great location for the conference, I think.

I have always gotten in to see Ann. The secret is to skip the session prior to Ann's so that you can be on the front of the line. They always completely clear the room prior to Ann's session, and those in the room for the previous session end up at the back of the line.

Coulter is a fun writer, but a very dull speaker. Michelle Malkin is much better.

JC Watts is the best speaker I've ever heard at CPAC.

This year will be interesting because half of the "conservative" speakers will be anti-war and pro-border control. The Libertarian element will be attempting to exert its influence

I just booked my room for CPAC. They are no vacancies for Thursday at the hotel. As a matter of fact, I can not even get into my room until 3 PM on the first day of the conference.

Hey... see ya there, mware! We're going, too... can't wait.

Looks like we've got a new hotel to explore for the CPAC venue (Omni Shoreham). The rooms there are a bit pricey, though. We're staying at a Holiday Inn somewhere in DC... hubby ("zelig") found a pretty good rate there. We'll have to take the Metro to CPAC.

Hopefully this year we can all meet in one central place (ie hotel bar) each evening. We found it difficult to find FReepers last year at the Ronald Reagan center after the sessions were over with for the day. There didn't seem to be a convenient "after-hours meeting place" like there was at the Marriott in Arlington.

Looking forward to seeing you and your family again! We'll be at CPAC also this year. :o)

Were you there last year? We had a tough time locating some FReepers last year at the Ronald Reagan Center... FReepers were scattered all over the place it seemed. I miss that Marriott Hotel bar...

I booked to say in the hotel, but I am not attending any of the dinners they are having.

Wish I could have booked for the day before, like last year but they are totally booked and as it is I can't get into my room until Thursday at 3 pm.

Meeting up to have dinner together sounds good to me. The bar in the Omni looks rather posh. As time gets closer we will have to touch bases.

Sure wish they had a schedule up.

Just finished my Amtrak and hotel reservations. Had to book at a Holiday Inn for Wednesday night as the Omni CPAC rate doesn't kick in until Thursday.

I've learned over the years that checking in on Wednesday saves you a lot of trouble.

Hey Nut! You and Zelig save me a seat at the bar!

Exit148, join Ed and I on choo choo? :-)

I still have to book the train.looks like i will be taking one of the train around 6 in the morning. That should get me to Union station by 8, than a taxi to the hotel. I fugure I'll be at the hotel by 9.

Ann is a dull speaker? Ooooo-kay. She brings the house down but that's okay. I guess the CPAC audience must be very easily amused.

The Omni looks like a beautiful hotel! We are attending just one of the dinners, not both, this year (had to cut back). Off the top of my head, I'm not sure if it's the Presidential or the Ronald Reagan banquet.

I would love to meet up for dinner on any night we won't be at a banquet. As you said, we should touch base as the time gets closer.

I wish they had the schedule up also. IIRC, last year they put it up at the last minute...
