"Duke" Cunningham was the Eddie Rickenbacker of the Vietnam War and now this scandal is what he will be remembered for.
It's a sad situation.

The former Vietnam flying ace and war hero... Former? Cunningham, albeit a corrupt congressman, is still an ace and war hero.

It totally sucks. I havent gone to the San Diego Aerospace museum to see if they took his name off the F-4 in the museum or not.
The shock was who who was, not what he did. We expect to be let down by politicians. Not by heros.

No more "sad" than the deprived and abusive childhood of your average serial killer.
The man betrayed his oath, his constituents, and his solemn duty to his country for the sake of a few bucks, and what he did in his youth can't wash away that stain.
Perhaps if he'd thought back to the code of honor of the US Armed Forces - assuming it ever meant anything to him in the first place - he wouldn't have committed these crimes.

The old "what have you done for me recently" deal. What he did and the arrogance of the way he did it really pisses me off; now this. Looks like he is still trying to avoid cell time.

What's sad about it. He made his choices. He broke the law. He allowed his morals to be auctioned off to the highest bidder. He deserves what he gets. I see no difference in this and treason. He sold out the Constitution that he defended with his life for money. I hope he and all the rest of the 535 bribe takers in Congress go down.

Yes..it's unfortunate.
Although the world is full of many people that excel in some areas of their life...but fail miserably in others.

Brought on by his own actions.
