History Channel Pushes my Buttons for the Last Time
History Channel | January 16, 2005 | ZULU

Posted on 01/16/2006 7:12:06 PM PST by ZULU

The History Channel ran another one of its "specials" tonight - on Lincoln.

The show seemed pretty good if a bit too pyschologically oriented, and then they did it. They had a number of buffons masquerading as "authors" who inferred that Lincoln had a homosexual relationship.

After having turned off the "History" Channel before for their biased anti-Crusade epic, I now resolve to never waste my time watching that revisionist trash channel on TV again.

Wednesday I'll try PBS for its "War that America" special. Hopefully they won't descend into Washington bashing over the Fort Necessity incident and the ambush of the French spying party before that.

90% of the shows on the History Channel are crap. They are full of revisionist BS or just flat out mistakes and I say this as someone who is soon going to have their M.A. in history and be working on a PhD.

However, "Mail Call" is still worth watching.

My wife and I watch part of it... It was boring as hell. To be quite honest, if you lost your mother, step mother, brother, sister, had a father that did not give a damn, trying to keep this nation together, lost your kids, and married to a pyshco, hell I feel depressed too..

I turned it off right when that lady started blowing hard about a soldier climbing through Abe's bedroom window. Liberals sicken me.

On the Kennedy/power special (an overview of the Kennedies from Joe to Teddy) - they had a some "historian" type saying how Ted K. was the most influential/ important Kennedy of the bunch. He was complimenting Teddy! I just don't get it sometimes - Ted IS the Kennedy curse.

I like their WW2 stuff and some of their ancient history stuff.. but they definately have a leftist bent, particularly on current event topics.

thanks for the warnings. Its not on for another 45 minutes here, and my wife wanted to see it. I already got annoyed by The Presidents. They bring on 3 or 4 Clinton advisors/cabinet members who then talk about how great Jimmy Carter was, then talk about how Reagan just happened to be in the right place at the right time, etc etc. History alright.

Do you really feel 90% of the content on the history channel is crap? My B.S. filter peeks every once in a while but I don't find them totally totally off kilter like Howard Zinn or anything.

They had a number of buffons masquerading as "authors" who inferred that Lincoln had a homosexual relationship.

Did they provide any concrete evidence, or was it typical, pseudo-intellectual, deconstructionist sophistry (as I suspect)?

The ad with the ditzy, young skull of mush telling the "teacher" that Lincoln's wife "had issues" was enough to make me think that it was a real trash job.

The "Last Days of WWII" was also good but of course it is only repeats now. "Modern Marvels" and "Engineering Disasters" have also been good but they all seem to be repeats as well.

Meanwhile over on the usually filthy Comedy Central I caught the South Park episode where they skewer Rob Reiner and the anti smoking lobby something awful. It was LOL funny and as usual the SP kids taught us a lesson about freedom and personal responsibility. ;-)

Attacking Lincoln or any other former president is how liberals prove Clinton was the greatest president ever.

Until they replace R. Lee Ermey with John Murtha, that is.
