OBL forgets help from U.S. in Afghanistan

Posted on 01/20/2006 8:54:15 AM PST by epluribus_2

In OBL's latest threat, truce-offer, and rant, he claims they defeated the Soviets using simple weapons and patience. I believe our Stingers were also required!

... Don't let your strength and modern arms fool you. They win a few battles but lose the war. Patience and steadfastness are much better. We were patient in fighting the Soviet Union with simple weapons for 10 years, and we bled their economy, and now they are nothing.

Dana Rohrbacher worked for the CIA during that time. He said OBL hated the US and the Russians the same.

OBL never did any real fighting in Afghanistan. He was too busy building roads and supplying money. He doesn't even know how to hold a rifle if you watch a video on him. He is not the fighter people think he is. A reporter had a story about meeting OBL long ago. OBL pleaded with his Afghan friends to kill the reporter, which never happened. If OBL was so tough, he would have killed the reporter himself. OBL gets far too much credit. He's a puss!

Bin Ladin's version of reality is that Allah (and the MSM) is on his side, so he can not lose.

Our version of reality is that his philosophy has created poverty and misery wherever it has been tried, while western civilization and freedom created the most powerful and rich society in the history of the world. We believe our power and wealth can defeat his philosophy.

It would be no contest if the MSM were not cheer-leading for Bin Ladin.

On the puss part I agree with you.
Stalin was too. That didn't keep him from racking up the deaths, even if a lot of someone elses were doing the actual wet work.
I'll be happier when I know Osama is burning in hell.

We supported the Northern Alliance, led my Masoud, an awsome leader. Reagan authorized, I think, $300 billion to help these native Afghanis fight off the Russian invasion.

Once the Russians were defeated in 1989, which was a large part of the end of the Cold War, the Afghanis and Arab Muslims from Pakistan, including Bin Laden, began fighting a "Civil War."

I'm not sure what year, or under what administration, we stopped providing military aid to Masoud, but it was to our detriment as Bin Laden had Masoud killed (by a suicide bomber posing as a photographer) two days before 9/11.

If we'd kept funding Masoud against the Arab muslims, the Taliban, and Bin Laden, 9/11 might not have happened.
