All of the polling indicated this was the pole to take...

but pay per view ... took boxing from one of the biggest events to being very low on the radar.

My thoughts exactly. Don't these guys ever learn? The NFL is something I watch about 15 minutes at a time between mowing the lawn and washing the car. In fact, my interest in all professional sports has been waning for some time.

I much prefer college sports. There is more variety and excitement. I don't want to pay a lot of hard-earned money to some cry-baby spoiled brats in the pro ranks.

Good. Let the folks who want the service pay, instead of the current socialized system where everyone pays, whether they want it or not.

NFL Network is a regular cable/satellite channel, like ESPN.

It's not on expanded basic here.

Well it looks like I'll get NFL Network soon. If the NFL Plans on showing the Cowboys on it, every cable system in Texas will be forced to add it or face a big backlash.

The NFL Network is not "pay-per-view".

The NFL Network is included in DirecTVs' basic ("Total Choice" & "Total Choice Plus") packages.

Do the NFL boobs actually think that their wealth comes from fans willing to pay to see their product? Not. Their wealth is derived from the advertisers who salivate at the opportunity to present their product to a monster size audience watching a free football game.

If I called my local cable company with a demand, it would be that they put everything a la carte.

Pro football wouldn't be one of my choices. (College football would, however.)

That's dumb showing the Thanksgiving day off network. They are messing with a tradition that earned them more than immediate money.

They could be shooting themselves in the foot. Thanksgiving used to be a big college football rivalry day before the Dallas Cowboys started playing on Thankgiving back in 1967. If football fans were given the choice between Texas A&M vs Texas on network TV at the same time that the Dallas Cowboys are on pay per view, which game do you think would have higher ratings?

I much prefer to watch the follow our local high school football season than to subsidize a bunch of professional thugs on the "TeeVee".

College Ball is more fun, anyway.

NFL is getting to be Rollerball sized.

This illustrates the great idea that makes capitalism work. If I own it and you want it and we can agree on a price, it's yours, if not it's mine. If enough people agree to pay, this will work for the nfl, if not it won't. We don't need no stink'en laws except the laws of supply and demand. There is no constitutional right to watch football "for free" {whatever that means}. Either pay with your cash or with the sponsor's cash, somebody is going to pay. I love the market.

Someday local broadcasters should turn the tables on professional sports and start charging them to air the scores and highlights content they carry in the news. Face it, professional sports is entertainment. It is the only entertainment industry given free air time regularly and promotes the professional sports. If the professional sports won't pay, yank it. As things are now the reporting of professional sports in local news broadcasts are essentially free commercials.

I cannot wait for that tv contract (or is it Dr. Pepper?) to be done with so TAMU vs tu reverts back to where it should be... Thanksgiving evening instead of T+1.

And while I'm at it, get Bonfire back on campus (especially to its former home - Duncan Field. I don't care if it is scaled back to a virtual glimmer of its former self... it just needs to burn. Dr. Gates/Board of Regents/State of Texas - settle the law suits and let Stack burn again.
