The president's State of the Union address sounded like it was cut and pasted from so many old speeches. There was nothing new last night. Easily agreed-to rhetoric about freedom, growth, opportunity, and civility hides the facts:
1. George Bush's foreign policy, and the way he fights his war on terrorism, is making our families less safe and secure, not more. His war in Iraq was based on false pretenses and has utterly failed. Yet, the president doesn't seem to have the capacity for self-examination, or the moral sense to change the nation's course.
2. George Bush's former rhetoric of compassionate conservatism has all but disappeared, and his domestic policies have clearly increased poverty in the United States. Overseas, shining promises to reduce global poverty have fallen tragically short. Last night he promised to continue down the path of moral hypocrisy with tax and spending cuts that further enrich the wealthy and impoverish the poor.
The facts of George Bush's policies undercut the moral values that many Americans, especially many of us in the religious community, hold dear. When rhetoric hides the facts, moral integrity suffers. Speeches come and go, but policies continue. And the facts of the Bush administration's policies will continue to turn true moral values voters away from this president.

The mp3 link is broken, they don't seem to have uploaded it into the right place or something. Looking for it (as if we want to hear more anyway...)
Keep an eye on this guy -- he is giving the Socialist/Demoncrats in Washington lots of 'hints' on how to seduce the 'religious' people in the US. He's a marxist of the Karl Barth kind.
'Christian' CINO weenie PING
CINO weenie PING
This author is a complete idiot.
Is there a difference between him and John Spong? I thought Wallace at least believes Jesus is God and man and He physically resurrected on the third day, that salvation is trusting in Jesus Christ alone as Lord and Saviour alone and not of doing any works in merit for salvation.
And I thought he at least opposes porn, gay marriage, drugs legalization, and abortions. Or am I mistaken?
url?
well duh... never mind LOL!
Not much! Spong is a member of the ... what is it now...Jesus debate? Jesus society? AH The Jesus Seminar. Along with the wonderful Marcus J Borg who wrote "Taking the Bible Seriously but Not Literally."
I hear my friends who are wintering in Tennessee just went to church down there and noticed their long time United Methodist church pastor was preaching from Wallis's "God's Politics" (aka Jim's politics) and the assistant, female, pastor was leading Sunday School using one of Spong's books. I can't recall the title. She was appalled. She hadn't known about Wallis etc until I alerted her to Wallis's alliance with our denomination (my ex denomination) President Glen Palmberg.
You know, he thinks all those things are private matters, but if God had his way, we wouldn't do them.
The guy opens his mouth and venom spews forth. It makes you wonder what sort of "Christian" beliefs he really espouses. Like I said before, the wheels are coming off this New Age, poor-excuse-of-a-religion these men preach. Take this to the bank: People like Rick Warren, Bill Hybels, Robert Schuller, Jim Wallis, et al will all meet their Waterloo soon.
I believe there are still a lot of evangelical Christians (particular in Asia) believe Wallis is a genuine Christian and his points are biblical. I know from places like Rapture Ready Discussion Board that they believe that Wallis is no Spong and attempt to distinguish between the two.
You got that right!
Then we need to expose him. There are a lot of people around the world that are looking at our pathetic decadent Globalist Christian leaders and think that's what Christianity is supposed to be. It's tragic.
I see from your profile you're interested in Jewish issues -- puts your comment in a clearer context. I really do appreciate what you said, immensely.
BTW as I recall he's pretty Pro-Palestinian too.

try that one on for size! yeesh!
Have you seen this chap? Stephen Sizer claims to be an evangelical Christian but is virulently anti-Israel. Not sure of where he stands on social issues (apparently he is anti-gay marriage) or war and peace though:

He's pretty much pro anything wacko
