I can tell you, if the e-mail and snail-mail traffic I receive is any indication, lots and lots of people are telling me they do not intend to vote in the 2006 election Who exactly are sending these emails??
There are many so-called conservatives that call into Rush's show also

The message is getting out that a Dem takeover of the House will result in impeachment. This is good, the country is in no mood for impeachment. The Dems will not take over the House or Senate in 06.

If Bush is impeached (which I seriously doubt), I will move to Canada or France or somewhere.
Some days I really hate Dems.

The Republicans are really looking into a butt kicking this fall. It would even be worse if the democrats has any kind of leadership. They clearly don't. But even so, this big spending president and congress will suffer due to is hypocritical spending such as: No vetoes of spending bills, tax breaks to Nascar track owners, cuts to students and elderly while giving subsidies to dairy farmers, and nothing done on immigration.
What difference is there between the democrats and the republicans? I wonder if George Wallace was right when he said there wasn't a dime's worth of difference between the two parties.

First, there is the Federal Judiciary. Justice Clarence Thomas told me at the White House swearing in of Justice Samuel J. Alito, Jr., "He [Alito] never would have made it through a Judiciary Committee controlled by liberals."What more incentive do you need to vote this fall? The way to maintain political pressure is to demonstrate your power positively, rather than sitting home and cutting off your nose to spite your face.
Immigration is huge, but it will not improve if we set at home and let the proponents of a perpetual welfare state take over so we can make a point.

Republicans have already lost the mid-terms. I have to strain to think of any grass-roots conservatives who currently have a positive view of the party. In addition, Bush is sure to derail any conservatives showing promise in the primaries.

"Little comes of it" ???
Excuse me??!!
What about this little weasle and just enough "disgruntled" republican voters
to saddle this nation with eight flippin' years (and counting) of the clintons???

This senerio is entirely possible. Republicans have to give people reasons to vote
for them, not just handwaving about how bad the other side is.
I'll not be voting Republican except in very limited cases.
Secure the border.
Reduce spending.
Then they can talk to me about my vote. I'd probably throw in something about actually repealing every single national gun control law, but actually enforcing the Constitution is too much to ask from this limp-wristed bunch.

The progress made with the judiciary so far should excite the grassroots to continue to support the GOP because we have to follow through.
But more is needed. Why the heck should the President NOT veto some spending bills? It is right on its face, let alone the positive political consequences.

Re:
lots and lots of people are telling me they do not intend to vote in the 2006 election. Democrats are the party of Apathy (and isolationist caputulation).
The more apathy they attract, the more voter apathy there will be on election day.
Think I'm wrong?
I have 3 numbers that prove it.
2000, 2002, and 2004.
In 2004, 62,041,268 Bush fans (more votes than any other president in American history) voted.
Not trashed the president on DU, not forwarded a chain letter, not organised a meet-up, not photoshopping a pic, not attending free concerts, not doing all of the other BS things they do to call themselves 'involved', but actually voting.
The democrats continued reliance on a "angry young men" as a reliable demographic to turn out and vote, will lead them to yet another defeat, and THANK GOD!

the rationale for the election of a conservative Republican . . . "Conservative" republican?
What in the hell is this writer referring to? What "conservative" republican?
The only prominent conservative republican I can recall was Reagan. We have "L" liberals and "R" liberals, but a "conservative republican" is as rare as a Florida panther.
. . .
Ooops. I take that back. There are about 30 Florida panthers left in the Everglades. There are NOT 30 "conservative" republicans. A restatement is needed:
We have "L" liberals and "R" liberals, but a "conservative republican" is MORE rare than a Florida panther.

The reason for Ford not being elected was wrong.
Ford was tainted and he was incompetent to boot.
Jimmy Carter was equally incompetent.

I suppose if republicans want votes, they could always try being the party of smaller, less intrusive government. I can't vote for them if they won't do that.
"Republicans : at least we're not democrats" doesn't work any more.
