Apparently, if a Republican president wants to ALMOST win an election, he should sharpen his veto pen.

Republicans would be in trouble if they had to run against any other party. People will say that they are staying home until the reality hits, that a Democrat might be elected. They will then limp to the polls.

I'm voting Rebulican in November. RINO or no, the control of the House and Senate are too important.

And every Senate pickup weakens the RINOs and the rest of the "gang of 14" swingers.

BS. More "Do stuff we like or we will stay home" from the usual whiners. Utterly stupid for anyone to by forecasting this far in advance of an election. This is all based on Bush JA number. Only problem is the JA numbers are bunk. The polling firms switched to polling anyone over 18 with NO reference to likelihood of voting. 50% or more of them will not vote. They also significant increased the number of Dems/Indy to Repbs ration. Most of them have not even started paying attention.

Also, fantasy perfect Democrat running against known Repb is ALWAYS going to win. Prob for the Dem is they have to open their mouths once the campaign starts. But hey, everyone panic. It is better for us when Conservatives work like they are 20 points behind.

A Clueless analysis.

The Conservative movement will crush the libs in 2006 because Stevens and Ginsburg are on life support and our military is at war.

Conservatives need to stop being lazy by relying on FAKE polls of non-voters and MSM Spin.

My old tagline was "FAKE POLLS DO NOT TRANSLATE INTO REAL VOTERS".

My new tagline is more fitting for the Saul Rosenberg whimpers of weak Conservatives.

Scary article...but, most of it I agree with...

I am not so sure that Republicans are as prone to have the war in Iraq keep them from voting Republican..or staying home.

I think we have more stick-to-itiveness than that...plus, the Vietnam War memories are still pretty strong...and we wouldn't want these troops to come home as the result of a retreat...instead of a mission accomplished.

The rest...I can see his points...

I myself am tempted to stay at home. Republicans in my state are divided and cannot come together because of spending habits. But the crux of the matter is picture America under the Democrats and if you can stay at home you are not worthy to be an American.I do not make any excuses because the Republicans have created their own problems and I wish there was a way to kick a lot of them out and replace them with real Republicans but I have never in my almost 70 years seen a group as evil and hate filled as the Democrat Party.I honestly fear them to the extent I would rather see a revolution than turn this country over to them. In my opinion they are dangerous and have destroyed every bit of the moral fiber in America because they are bonifide ACLU indoctrinated and Communist inspired. I have voted for many more Democrats in my lifetime than anything else and considered myself a Democrat for quite a few years but the liberal wing of the Democrat Party is in control and they are really worse than the Hollywood group.

Yeah, I have some thoughts. I'm disappointed in our elected officials...but I'm sure not about to capitulate to the friggin' 'rats. I used to be a diehard Democrat. I supported Carter and Mondale and Dukakis. I even voted for Jesse Jackson in a primary. I know what the Democrats want: a government control and answer for everything.

I don't buy the argument the Republicans are "no better". No, Bush isn't the end-all be-all of Presidents. He's got a learning curve and I don't agree with all he's done.

Ronald Reagan, God rest his soul, had some problems, too. I can name them in two words: O'Connor/Kennedy. Do we sit around and denigrate Reagan's presidency? I don't. The man is a conservative icon, and rightly so.

Bottom line? My money and efforts this year are going to go to the candidates I believe in, if not to the Republican party. Perhaps I'll give some $$ and volunteer for the Republicans, perhaps not. My work for the conservative cause may go into other efforts.

But come Election Day, the one thing I will do is vote for the conservatives. 99% of the time that will be the Republican.

REALITY: We're going to be governed by either Democrats or Republicans. There is a difference, and I won't stand by and let Democrats take over because I refuse to participate!

This sort of rhetoric is what the Republican Party needs in an election year to goad lackadaisical voters to get to the polls on election day. Rest assured the Democrats are already in a foaming frenzy to get to the polls since they lack a majority in any of the branches of government. Their anger is clearly demonstrated in their inability to formulate solutions to the problems they incessantly rant about and criticize.

I will vote for Speedy Gonzales if he is an illegal alien but running on the Republican ticket. It's not that I am so much a Republican as I am an anti-Democrat. I do not want a Democrat as a Commander in Chief in a time of war. To not vote at all, or to vote for a third party, simply because you want a personal Santa Claus for a President is principled but very foolish.

Here comes Chicken Little, right on time. How many election cycles have gone by with some version of the sky is falling from Weyrich? I have lived in this town for as long as he has,and sounding alarms and raising more money has been his stock in trade.

Yeah, the following quotation from the article is written in such a way that it means the opposite of what the author intends, and is grammatically incorrect.

Yes. The biggest threat to a Democrat takeover of the House is mainstream Republicans who masquerade as conservatives.
These last several years, time and time again, we have seen the aforementioned criticize, berate, and belittle conservatives whose wish is only that we carry on where Ronald Reagan wisely and remarkably left us.
Less than fifteen years after RR left Washington DC, we now hear many on the Right extolling the virtues of Rudy Giuliani-type candidates for our nation's highest elective office.

Those who speak out on the horror of abortion are labeled "one-issue voters". Never mind their sincerity, it's a "wedge issue", thus it should be avoided, according to some.

Illegal immigration has proliferated exponentially in this country. Even back in the 80s, when RR extended 'amnesty', which being a Christian and a true believer in the American dream he was wont to do, no one couldn've foreseen a tragic event such as occurred on Sept, 11, 2001, which elevated the problem and potential risks to altogether new heights.
Yet those who rise and show their disapproval at the current administration's handling of this are labeled 'extremists' and even 'bigots'.

Social Security privatization, long overdue and finally made possible by the G.O.P.'s majority in both Houses was poorly presented to the American public and shelved. A wonderful opportunity to remove a prominent layer of socialism from the backs of Americans, lost.

The Christian conservatives, this nation's most prolific voting bloc are all but ostracized by the mainstream Republicans. They're told that it will be their fault if we lose the House, Senate or the White House in '08. Their told that unless they abandon their collective consciences, forget for the time being what God directs us to do, and vote for the (R) candidate, they will be solely responsible for the ensuing results.
Of course, the mainstream Republicans don't think for a moment that by supporting candidates that the conservatives, Christian or otherwise, won't accept is any kind of blemish on their logic. The conservatives are to do as they're told and shut up.

Well, I believe conservatives ceased shutting up when one of their own had delegates at the 1976 Republican National Convention looking at each other and uttering, "I think we may have nominated the wrong man".

Myself, I will only cast a vote for a true conservative now. No amount of emotional blackmail from the Republicans sways me an iota.
I'll urge all like-minded conservatives to do likewise.
