Some Plame Truths
The American Thinker ^ | 3/13/06 | clarice feldman

This weekend some interesting developments appeared to rip some holes in the Wilson Gambit and further erode Special Prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald’s credibility.

David Corn of The Nation magazine and VIPS (Veteran Intelligence Professionals for Sanity) have pushed nonsensical claims that Valerie Plame was a nonofficial cover agent (NOC), supplying the necessary predicate for an Agee Act (Intelligence Identity Protection Act) prosecution. While I could find scant reporting in the pre-indictment period poking holes in this ridiculous notion, Saturday’s Chicago Tribune carried five stories doing just that.

In two of the most significant articles, the paper showed how easy it was to mine data online and determine who was working for the agency, including finding people who’d worked at the reported Plame undercover front Brewster-Jennings, people who listed that outfit in their online resumes.

"nonsensical claims that Valerie Plame was a nonofficial cover agent (NOC), supplying the necessary predicate for an Agee Act (Intelligence Identity Protection Act) prosecution."

Unless something has changed, Libby has not been charged with that.

Indeed, he hasn't yet that was supposedly the reason for the investigation and the Special Prosecutor said in his indictment that her position at the agency was "classified", a term in used in his press conference in such a way as to suggest their was great harm to national security by the revelation of her identity.

Watch out!!!!!! I saw a blurb on the news this weekend, stating how easy it is to get classifed info on the internet. This is the MSM setting up it's defense against the investigations and subsequent trials to come over the printing of classifed info. Watch for the hysteria to build, and another attempt made to control (outlaw) bloggers and the internet is made by the libs!!!!!!!!!!

Though disparaging to the competence of the CIA, these stories don't change anything about the case. He's charged with lying about when or whom he told about Mrs. Traitor.

It's a shame that the one little "detail" spiked by all the press reports is that Libby, Cheney, Rove, et al, were telling reporters the truth. Wilson's trip had a bogus genesis and what he was spewing on the airwaves was a pile of untruths mixing:

He may have let the cat out of the bag when he told a WaPo reporter the documents were forgeries - the CIA didn't even have them yet. The only way he could have know about them was if he was in on the plot to "poison the well".

Exactly. So how can he be charged with lying to cover up something that wasn't a crime to begin with?

"Exactly. So how can he be charged with lying to cover up something that wasn't a crime to begin with?"

Well...the same way President Clinton was charged with lying about his relationship with Monica Lewinsky. And unfortunately for Libby, the standard for prosecuting a normal person is lower than the level for an impeachment.

I think the record will show he wasn't lying, but the bigger point is the question of motive and materiality of any misstatement. In the absence of proof that she was a NOC how does his differing recollections (minor differences in fact) of conversations with reporters become a crime?

Change (interject) a few words in a Churchill quote ...

Churchill's Commentary on Man (liberal MSM):
Man (liberal MSM) will occasionally stumble over the truth,
but most of the time he will pick himself up and continue on.

Hey, Feefe-
At the risk of showing my terrific ignorance, do you- or does anyone here- have any more info on the following?
"... the Rockefeller memo on how to use Wilson to turn the Senate Intelligence Committee to partisan advantage ..."

Any place I can read that memo?

Thanks.

"Exactly. So how can he be charged with lying to cover up something that wasn't a crime to begin with?"

Whenever the lying/scamming MSM and Rat party tries to electronically coup our president, truth and reality are not important.

What is important to them is the seriousness of their charges based on lies, spins and mantras.
