TALLAHASSEE Gov. Jeb Bush made it clear Friday that he will not seek the Republican nomination for the U.S. Senate seat now held by Sen. Bill Nelson, regardless of who asks him to run.
"No, hell no," Bush said when asked whether he would consider replacing U.S. Rep. Katherine Harris as the Republican candidate if she ends her faltering campaign to challenge the Democratic incumbent.
He said he often is asked about getting into the contest.
What if his brother, President Bush, called?
"No. (Not even if) Pope Benedict calls," Bush responded. "I'm not doing it, trust me. I am not interested."
Bush, 53, has retained a high popularity rating through his two terms as governor and often has been mentioned as a possible presidential candidate for 2008. He repeatedly has denied he would run then, but hasn't ruled out a candidacy after that....

FYI. :)
LOL...
Good. We have enough Senators who want to dissolve our borders.
I just think this is so funny. Poor Gov Bush -- he says what he means, but, people just don't believe him sometimes. I don't know why. But then it gets to the point where he has to say "No, hell, no." LOL! Why don't they just believe him the first time? He's been saying the same thing all along here. LOL...
Besides, it isn't his turn, and being a polite man, he isn't going to 'take cuts'.
Remember: The deal is:
"Bush-> Clinton-> Bush->Clinton..
And assuming the Republic survives Hillary, THEN it will be "Jeb's Turn".
I don't know that it's really all so cur and dried. A lot of people on the left don't want Senator Clinton to be the nominee. And, you never know what Gov Bush will do -- he may decide he's had enough of a public life. He's been very successful as Florida's only two-term GOP gov. He may run for prez someday, but, if he didn't -- he's already made history. On his own.

Yes, but what if Karl Rove calls?
I think Gov Bush's answer is still: NO, H*LL, NO!
I'm kidding...
But then maybe I'm not.. :-(
A year ago, It would have been just a sarcastic joke towards the conspiracy theorists. But now that President G.W. Bush is morphing into his father, President G.H.W. Bush, I'm starting to wonder if we haven't been 'dealt our hand from a stacked deck'.
Bush/Giuliani '08 :D
Well, Clinton fatigue became a well used phrase. Imagine for a moment 15 years of FDR. The press' distain for capitalism and infatuation with socialism made it all happen.
The liberals have so stacked the deck, that it is practically impossible for conservatives to make any progress against it. Conservatism has become a speed bump, and not much more.
While W argues unsucessfully for privitization of 2% of the social security system, the public sector unions negotiate 4 and 5% pay increase contracts with ease.
GM and Ford have become union castoffs and casualties of global trade.
I guess this means he is candidate. There is a consistent pattern amongst Bushes, NO for them always turns out to mean YES.
No Jeb Bushes were inducted into the Senate in the making of this reply.
Re your post #15 - I don't know that there was overwhelming support for GW's social security overhaul. Maybe there was and I missed it. But I don't recall the public rushing to embrace.
Well, I personally think Gov Bush could win a national race in 2008. But, he has repeatedly said he is not running for president in 2008.
