Falwell: Anyone but Hillary

CHARLESTON, W.Va., April 7 (UPI) -- The Rev. Jerry Falwell told a group of West Virginia Baptists his main goal for 2008 is to prevent Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., from becoming president.

Falwell addressed the annual West Virginia Convention of Southern Baptists, the Charleston Gazette reported. An audience of about 500 was gathered in the Cross Lanes Baptist Church.

Falwell had good words for President George W. Bush and Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz. McCain called Falwell an "agent of intolerance" in 2000, but is scheduled to be the commencement speaker this year at Falwell's Liberty University.

Falwell did not say who he would like to be elected president in 2008. He said it is too early to endorse anyone.

"We've been working very feverishly now to make sure that Hillary doesn't go in in '08," he said.

Falwell said the United States is clearly in trouble.

The religious conservatives had better get aboard this train.

You get your choice: Hitlery or a mushy Republican who supports amnesty for illegal aliens, like Bush does. Some choice, huh!

I'm a religious conservative who refuses to ride that train. Don't misunderstand, I do NOT want a president Hillary. But if the Republicans offer me a person who is unacceptabie to me, I won't help that person win either. Le the chips fall where they may. Either give me someone I can support or don't expect my support. It's the party's job to please me. Not the other way around.

I agree with Falwell's views on the Hildabeast, but is a religious convention really the time and place to be to be talking politics?

Both sides have so fully intertwined politics and religion that there really isn't much of a difference any more.

LOL! You count too, of course. But values matter to me, so I'm voting accordingly. It's my vote and I'm not going to waste it on someone who refuses to represent me well on key issues. I just won't. Better to lose big and give everyone a dose of reality.

Not when Mrs. Clinton could gain from it. Anyone but Hillary.

Better to have gridlock and the Republican Congress fight the Democratic president tooth and nail, than a Republican who can easily get all his spending programs through Congress.

Repeated. In Bold.

The last six years have taught me that Orwell was right. This bunch is so drunk with power that I'm *never* going to trust a single party with unchecked power again.

Well, I don't agree with his "anyone but.." position, yet I still defend his right to make the statement anywhere he pleases.

"Anybody but Bush" proved to be a poor rallying cry for the Left. Nationally every "anybody buy Bush" candidate combined got fewer votes that George W. Bush at re-election.

Eliminate her candidacy in the primaries (or expose her before it gets that far). It dangerous that Komrade Kerry got as far as he did, considering the acts of treason he committed in lying before Congress during the Vietnam War, the organization that he was a part of that targeted Congressmen for assassination, etc.

I agree that Fallwell legally CAN make the statement at a religious convention, but that doesn't necessarily mean that he should.

Government is basically 'laws'. Laws are what the governed think is moral/just, which is derived from their religious beliefs (And yes Mable, atheism is a religion)

So government and religion are ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS hard linked together.

Nope. Either a decent conservative gets the nomination, or I go third party.

To Reverend Falwell, and everyone else who is deluding themselves with John McCain, mark these words: McCain loses to Hillary. When it happens, don't blame me. I warned you.
