Mr. Falwell appears to be riding the McCain train.

I remain unconvinced that an obstructionist conservative minority in the house which prevents a Clinton in the White House from accomplishing much is worse than a compliant Congressional majority that allows a Bush in the White House from accomplishing much of what he has. Yes, I know about the Supreme Court justices. If the SD should get to the court and the court return the abortion issue to the states, I will have to reconsider my point of view. But with President Bush being on the record against that law, I'm thinking this won't happen.

McCain will be giving the commencement speech at Liberty University.

He and Falwell seem to be having a love fest.

The only good thing about this is that it has driven the MSM into a froth.

The filibuster is the check.

Republicans have zero control over congress when the dems can block any legislation through the filibuster.

I am so tired of hearing one party rule bs when harry reid has incredible power to block anything.

Amen to everything you said.... McPain has betrayed every one of those critical issues and sided with the Dims, liberals, lefties in every case. I will never vote for that lying, betrayer & traitor... not ever. It absolutely galls me that Falwell is bringing this traitor & betrayer to "LIBERTY" University as his commencement speaker. My opinion of Falwell has dropped to about zilch if he is willing to cavort with the devil betrayer & traitor, John McPain. Not me!

The religious conservatives had better get aboard this train.

If memory serves, the religeous conservatives' last train was what we have now. That's some sad shape the train has left us in, huh? Now we're down to "Anybody but Hillary." I didn't think there was anything worse than the lesser of two evils philosophy.

That's fine, but it he is the only thing standing in her way . . . . .

That's not even close to being true... Hillary/McCain or McCain/Hillary are two peas in a pod. It is difficult to tell the difference between who is the lying betraying left-wing DimWit, and who is the lying, betraying liberal turncoat RINO.

If Republicans have the good sense to find & nominate a staunch, unapologetic, fiery conservative who actually believes in opposing amnesty for illegal immigrants, will REDUCE fed govt spending by the entire 1.8 trillion growth under GWB, stops pandering to Muslims and their "religion of peace", actively supports pro-life & traditional values, we would see a conservative candidate who would crush either Hitlery or McPain or both. In any case I would never vote for either of those lying betraying traitors.

Agreed. We do need to make sure we're sending up the right candidate. We need a principles, Reagan conservative now more than ever, but it looks like George Allen is the only one in the mix who seems to even rmotely qualify. I'm big on a guy like Mike Pence, but who knows if he can gain the traction to shoot to top.

True conservatives should be fighting mad and begging for the chance to get involved in the primaries. That's how we take our party back.

Frankly, I'm all for Hillary Clinton. She's going to get up there and shrieke one to many times, and she's through. She may get the nomination. She'll go down in defeat in the election.

You poor baby...no Soviet Union, no atheist Vatican to look to for strength anymore. LOL, I have zero respect for atheists. "The fool as said in his heart, 'there is no God'." You'll know the truth, sooner or later, Einstein--in the meantime, review your fossil collection...

To all of you who would sit this one out, vote third party, or shudder, vote for a democrat, may I remind you that the White House is who controls foreign policy, national security, and cabinet positions, as well as nominating Supreme Court Justices?

Are you willing to see someone like Wesley Clark or Congressman Murtha in charge of our troops? Do you want Joe Biden running the State Department? Do you want Bill Clinton on the Supreme Court? How about Hillary in charge of our dealings with North Korea?(It worked SO well the first time they dealt with them, didn't it?)

Regardless of your "principles", could you disgruntled types (assuming you are not faux conservatives) PLEASE think about the war on terror, the possible replacement for Scalia, and our troops?

I cannot fathom why one would think that it would be ok to have a democrat. If Hillary gets in power she will no doubt grab one or both houses of Congress as well. It is quite possible that stringent anti-internet laws, draconian election rules, and talk-radio restrictions would be enacted, and our taxes will go up, just as they did when her husband was elected.

WAKE UP!

Making the argument that you should vote Republican because we're not the Democrats is going to be a hard sell, especially if you run a GOP candidate that alienates another constituency every time he opens his mouth.

Why are we even setting it up like this, folks? If you run the entire campaign as being nothing but voting against Hillary, you are essentially running the same style of campaign John Kerry did against Bush. If it wasn't a winning strategy for them, why would we have any reason to believe it would be for us?

Just to get it out of the way, a 2008 McCain victory is out of the question. He has insulted, alienated, and attacked almost every prominent conservative cause known to man during his tenure, and the press will have dirt out the wazoo on him. You hardly need to lift a finger to paint this guy as certifiable, a hothead, or both.

If we are going to run a guy that would give the Main Street Partnership a tingling feeling, our only hope will be to run a relatively young, vibrant, and decidedly Conservative VP candidate on the same ticket.

C'mon, folks! We can do better than just having a vote against Hillary.

You get your choice: Hitlery or a mushy Republican who supports amnesty for illegal aliens, like Bush does. Some choice, huh!

Kinda like either voting for Stalin or Hitler. What a choice. I say get out of this corrupt "Two-Party Cartel' & vote outside of it & the long term consequences will favor the middle class taxpayers.

I agree that Fallwell legally CAN make the statement at a religious convention, but that doesn't necessarily mean that he should.

The dilemma is that as a minister, he needs to remember that he is the representative of the gospel to the world. That certainly doesn't mean it is inappropriate to speak out on current events, but I might question the wisdom of naming names. Issues, yes. Names, I don't know. But the fact is that those who love darkness rather than light will loathe him no matter what. Still, it is something to consider. Not to tickle ears, but to keep the focus where it belongs.

That said, as a political point, it is important that the princple remain he CAN speak on politics anywhere he wants. It is in no one's best interest to make Christians the exception to every rule simply because their main focus should be preaching the gospel. That is being on the side of injustice.

Because of principle, would you have not worked with Stalin to defeat Hitler?

Again it just shows this corrupt "Two-Party Cartel". Neither of these two deserve ONE vote from any true FReeper. I beg you all don't by into this sham.

I hope there are more people on the other side who will say there is no way they would vote for Hillary. They would sooner allow Condi Rice or they would vote third party. It sounds like there will plenty of suicide voters on our side.

NO. Stalin was much worse than Hitler. However, you wont't see that in our history books. Just read the "Communist Manifesto". See what Stalin's agenda has done to America. (BTW Hitler called Satin, "the butcher".
